Drug raid results in arrest

The Panola County Sheriff’s Department, along with the Batesville Police Department, made a significant dent in local drug distribution with a raid on a residence on Morrow Rd. in Courtland on Wednesday.
Officers found marijuana, methamphetamines, paraphernalia, and more than $5,000 in cash. An adult female was arrested, but her name was not released as officers said more arrests are likely in connection with the case.
Also this week the Sheriff’s Dept. reported that with the use of their Facebook group page, two suspects were arrested in connection with a burglary on Chapeltown Rd. Officers said a report of a suspicious couple in the area, and quick posts on the social media site resulted in the arrests and recovery of some goods in the Tocowa area.
In a case deputies and investigators have worked more than two weeks, two people have been arrested and charged with burglary after a meter box and various electronics valued at approximately $5,000 was reported in the Curtis area of the county.
With the help of BPD, investigators were also able to connect those arrested with other burglaries reported in Batesville. Those names will be released after further investigation.
