NP Cougars, 4-0 has Calhoun tonight

Slowly but surely, and game by game, this year’s version of the North Panola High School Cougars are finding their own identity.

Led by a veteran offensive line and a powerful rushing attack, the Cougars find themselves undefeated at 3-0 and a No.10 ranking in the latest mississippigridiron.com Little 10 prep poll.

The Cougars will look to keep its record unblemished as they host Calhoun City tonight in a 7 p.m kickoff.

Tonight will mark the rubber match  between the two schools with each team winning one game each.

North Panola won the first game of the series 32-16 in 2013 before Calhoun City claiming a 54-6 rout the following year.

The Cougars are coming off a 14-0 win at Charleston last Friday while Calhoun City(2-1) slipped past Choctaw County 24-21.

The Wildcats opened the season with a 55-0 rout of Ashland before losing 32-7 to Houston in week two.

North Panola has an array of offensive weapons at their disposal that includes senior quarterback Cadarrius Pride who threw for two touchdowns in the win over Charleston.

Also looking to share the production is Davonte Pratcher, QD Walls and Alex Gross.

When the Cougars decide to put the ball in the air chances are Carl Robinson will surely be around as the junior playmaker reeled in scoring passes of 68 and 22 yards from Pride against Charleston.

Walls and Roderick Taylor are other go-to options.

On the defensive side of the ball senior Eric Williams leads the way along with Xavier Glover and Steven Edwards.

Calhoun City will counter with two-way starter Jayden Griffin along with signal caller Thomas Clayton. Warner Wiggs (6’, 215) and center Terrance Hall (6’,255) anchor the offensive line.

The Wildcat defense is led by safeties Kody Townsend and Chardarius Hill who leads the team with three interceptions.
