No. 1 ranked Green Wave on road at Strayhorn

The other is Riverfield, La.

The No.1 ranked Green Wave will look the keep its early season momentum going as they travel to Sarah  in western Tate County to square off against MHSAA member Strayhorn tonight for a 7 p.m kickoff.

North Delta will look to even the series in the fourth meeting between the two schools that began in 2013. Strayhorn won the last meeting 28-9 in 2016.

The Mustangs are led by former North Delta coach Tim Beard and Green Wave alum Jim Tom Copeland, who serves as an assistant coach.

North Delta (3-0) is coming off a 35-14 victory over Indianola last Friday as tailback Jimmy Manues rushed for 205 yards and four touchdowns.

The Green Wave have outscored their opponents 111-26 and are averaging 37 points per game while surrendering eight per outing.

Strayhorn started off the season with wins over Coldwater (35-0) and Coffeeville (20-14) before falling to Clarksdale Lee Academy 35-6 last week.

Leading the charge for the Mustangs as sophomore quarterback Kyler Houston.

Joining Houston in the backfield is senior running back Cedrick Johnson (6’,160) and twin brother Zedrick Johnson along with Carter Freeman (6’3”,230)

Strayhorn is anchored on defense by linebacker Ben Cummins and Zander Grace at the defensive back position.
