Draft night came and went for former Ole Miss guard Terence Davis, but it wasn’t the end of Davis’ basketball journey.
On Friday night, Davis signed a deal with the Denver Nuggets as an undrafted free agent, or UDFA.
He’ll get a chance to show his talents against those picked in the draft and other UDFAs over the summer in the Las Vegas Summer League with the Nuggets.
The setting won’t be all that unfamiliar. Davis shined in pre-draft workouts in similar environments. His defense, athleticism and shot making excited scouts.
Davis rose from an undrafted rank to as high as the No. 40 ranked available player by ESPN entering the draft. Yet on draft night, he was not one of 60 to hear his name called.
When all is said and done, Terence Davis simply needs to play good basketball. If he continues to play the way he did in workouts leading up to the draft, and shines at Summer League, he’ll likely get a fair chance with the Nuggets, or at the very least their G-League affiliate.
