JV Tigers host Grenada Chargers

A five run-second inning propelled the South Panola Junior Varsity baseball team to a 9-2 win over Grenada in the first game of a doubleheader Thursday at Tiger Field.
Grenada gained the split by no-hitting the Tigers 1-0 in the nightcap.
South Panola produced only four hits in the opener but took advantage of three walks and two hit batters in the second inning to grab a 5-1 lead. Brayden Martin registered the lone hit in the frame with a RBI single.
The Tigers sent 10 batters to the plate in the following inning, scoring four runs on three hits for a 9-2 advantage.
Aiden Williams and Wesley Wilson produced consecutive singles to drive in runs. Eli Raines later added a sacrifice fly to plate Williams. Baylor Scammon led off the inning with a double and later scored on Williams’ single.
Briar Busby tossed four innings to record the pitching win. Busby struck out three and walked three while surrendering one earned run.
In the second game, Grenada scored their lone in the top of the first on two hits, the only hits given up by Tiger pitcher Wesley Wilson who fanned nine in five innings.
Wilson retired 13 batter in a row after giving up a two-out single in the first inning.
Brayden Martin walked in the first inning and was the only Tiger to get on base.
