SP track members qualify for State

South Panola tracksters Kiersten Clark and Crystal Mayes both qualified for the state 6A Track and Field meet Saturday at Pearl High School after in second place of their respective events.

Clark ran a personal best time of 1.01 in the 400 meters to finish in second place while Mayes tied for second in the high jump at 5-foot. Clark also finished sixth in the 100 meters (12.74) and seventh in the 200 meters (26.63).

The girls 4×200 relay team finished fourth with a time of 1:45, a South Panola school record. That team is made up of Mayes, Clark, Aziyah McGhee, and Jada Wilson.

On the boys side, Issac Sturdivant ran a 2.08 800 meters that was good for seventh place while freshman Jalen Kerby claimed sixth in the shot put and eighth in the discus.
