North Delta breaks losing skid with Marshall win

The North Delta Green Wave broke an eight-game losing streak with a 7-6 victory over Marshall Academy Saturday at Green Wave Field.

With the game tied 6-6 in the bottom of the seventh inning, Luke Noah walked to force in Brandon Henson with the winning run.

Henson, who led North Delta at the plate with four hits on the day, got the rally started with a two-out single.

Lige Simmerman and Zack Dugger were intentionally walked to set out a force play at any base only to have Noah draw a walk on four pitches for the game winner.

Eli Robb earned the pitching win in relief of Noah and Brunson Wolfe.

North Delta (5-11) led 6-4 going into the top of the seventh before Marshall scratched across two runs to tied the game at six.

The Green Wave took a 1-0 lead in the first before the Patriots plated two runs in the second. North Delta answered with Robb’s two-run home run just inside the left field foul pole to regained the lead at 3-2.

Both teams got at least  one hit in every inning as North Delta collected 13 hits on the day while Marshall accounted for 11.

The Green Wave left 11 runners on base with the Patriots stranding 12 on the base paths.

With the addition of Henson’s four singles, Simmerman added a single and double while Tyler Hall drove in two runs with a pair singles.

Ian Cole added a double and scored a run. Dugger, Hunter Houston and Noah registered singles. Austin Taylor scored a run in a courtesy-running role in the sixth.

North Delta will be back in action Saturday as they host Northpoint Christian at noon and 2:30 p.m.
