Friends of the Library Spring Chocolate Fantasy will be April 7 In the large meeting room at the Batesville Public Library. Come and enjoy: book scapes, art work by local youngsters, door prizes, music by Casey and Calvin, and especially to enjoy some delicious chocolate treats.

Vendor applications for the 2019 SpringFest on the Downtown Square is April 12. Applications are available at Batesville Main Street in the offices of the Panola Partnership and online. Space is limited for the May 18 event that will draw thousands of visitors to the city.

April 9

The NAACP will meet two times in April, Tuesday, April 9, and April 16 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the large meeting room of the Batesville Public Library.

April 27

The Sardis Fire Department will have its first Fireman’s Gala and Silent Auction April 27 at the Heflin House in Sardis. Tickets are $25 single and $40 for couples. Keynote speaker is Clarence Parks of the Mississippi Fire Academy. Proceeds will benefit the fire department for turnout gear and more training.

May 3&4

A spring Yard Sale in support of veterans in the Batesville area will be held at the VFW building on Highway 51 S. Please clean out closets and attics and bring the items to the VFW to help this worthy cause. For assistance getting items to the sale, or for more information, call Sandi at 372-0583.

June 8

The second Panola County Juneteenth will be held Saturday, June 8, at noon on Main Street in Sardis. If you would like to be a vendor, email panolacountyjuneteeth@gmail.com.

Ongoing Meetings

Panola County Alcoholics Anonymous meetings are held at Batesville First United Methodist Church at noon daily. For information call 234-8585.

Celebrate Recovery With Jesus will meet each Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 6:30 p.m. at Victory Independent Baptist Church on Hwy. 51S, two-and-a-half miles south of Batesville on the right. Bring all your hurts, habits, and hang-ups. Call 209-7773 for more information.

The South Panola Class of 1979 is planning its 40th year reunion

for Oct. 19. Contact 934-7281 or 703-0171 for more information or to help in the planning. All persons with connections to this class are urged to call. The reunion date is the day after the South Panola High School homecoming game in the fall.

Mondays

Gymnastics for kids is held 5-6 p.m. for ages 4-6 and 6-6:45p.m.for ages 7 and up. Class follows the South Panola school schedule. Call 710-6121 for information.

The Sons of the Confederate Veterans meets monthly on the first Monday at 7 p.m. at Batesville Public Library. Call 934-6211 for information.

Tuesdays

The Panola County Election Commissioners meet the first Tuesday of each month at the Batesville Courthouse at 2 p.m.

The American Legion meets the third Tuesday of every month at the VFW at 5:30 p.m.

The Panola County Humane Society meets the fourth Tuesday of every month at the Batesville Public Library at 5:30 p.m.

Panola County Cancer Relief Organization meets the second Tuesday of each month at the Batesville Public Library at 6 p.m.

Thursdays

Batesville VFW Post 4968 and Auxiliary meets the first Thursday of every month at the VFW building at 6 p.m

Fridays

Al-Anon support group for family and friends of alcoholics will meet at 7 p.m. at First United Methodist Church.

Saturdays

Every third Saturday of the moth, the Batesville Lions Club will have Karaoke Night starting at 6 p.m. Music starts at 7 p.m. at the Lions Club building on Tiger Drive.
