Leo L. Chrestman

Batesville – Leo L. Chrestman, 68, died Monday night, October 8, 2018, at his home . He was the widower of Jeannett Turnage Chrestman.

Leo was born June 9, 1950 to the late Lonnie Chrestman and Baby Rutherford in Panola County. He was a   United States Army veteran. His is survived by one son,  Lonnie Darrell Chrestman.

The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.

Wells Funeral Home has charge of the services.

Ketric L. Gale

Senatobia – Ketric L. Gale, 38, died October 5, 2018 at his residence in Senatobia.

Visitation will be held Friday, October 12 from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. at Felix Cauthen funeral home.

Services will be held Saturday, October 13 at 1 p.m. at Hickory Grove M.B. Church in Coldwater.

Interment will also be held at Hickory Grove M.B. Church following the funeral service.

He was disabled.

Charlotte Jean King

BATESVILLE – Charlotte Jean King died Sunday, Oct. 7, 2018 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford.

Charlotte King was born October 29, 1952 in Chicago. She was Baptist by faith, a dedicated wife and a wonderful mother.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Macedonia M.B. Church in Batesville, located on 1284 Macedonia Road under the leadership of Reverend Zannie Leland.

Burial and repast will be held at Macedonia as well.

Pastor Jerome Battle of Mt. Olive M.B. Church will deliver the eulogy.

Ella Matthews

Mrs. Ella Matthews, age 93, passed away October 7, 2018 at her residence. Services were held Wednesday, Oct. 10 at the chapel of Kimbro Funeral Home in Marks. Interment followed in Longtown Cemetery.

Mrs. Matthews, a retired seamstress for William Carter Company, was an avid gardener, made “Cotton Patch” dolls and pouting dolls. She loved her grandchildren, great grandchildren and her great-great grandchildren.

Those left behind to cherish her memory include her daughters, Brenda Joyce (Therold) Clark of Sardis, Sherry Matthews (Jim) Wood, of Bartlett, TN, Violet Marie Kennedy (Robert Wiginton) of Collierville, TN, Gloria Dian (Malcolmb) Self of Courtland; her son, Leroy (Linda) Matthews Jr. of Crowder; her sisters, Mary Sue McCarty of Southaven, Gertrude (Larry) Fair of West Point, and Francis Brewer of Senath, MO; thirteen grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren; as well as her longtime caregiver, Caroline Hibbler.

Mrs. Matthews is preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Matthews Sr.; her parents James B. and Frankie Hamblin; her son, Jerry Matthews; four sisters and three brothers.

Carolyn Johnson McDaniels

BATESVILLE – Carolyn Kay Johnson McDaniel, 76, died Sunday, October 7, 2018, at her home.

Mrs. McDaniel was born on July 9, 1942 in Water Valley, to the late Lois Ann Palmertree Johnson and James Clinton Johnson. She was a registered nurse and retired from Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, where she started the first heart team in Oxford. She was a member of the Sardis Church of Christ.

Dickins Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Billy Ross Mitchell

Billy Ross “Bean” Mitchell, 50, died October 1, 2018 at Panola Medical Center in Batesville.

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 12, 2018 at 11 a.m. at L. Hodges Funeral Services in Oxford, with burial in Yocona Cemetery in Taylor. L Hodges Funeral Services has charge of arrangements.
