Agnes Lavina Cheek Aldy

Batesville – Agnes Lavina Cheek Aldy of Batesville departed this earthly life on Thursday, July 19th, 2018.

Known affectionately as “Agnew” to her family, she was 88, and leaves behind a loving family that will miss her tremendously.

Funeral services were on Saturday, July 21, 2018 in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home in Batesville burial in Forrest Memorial Park.

Mrs. Aldy was born on April 28, 1930 in Oak Grove, La., to Harvey and Sally Cheek.

She married Billy Ray Aldy on May 3, 1947 in Winfield, La. They remained married until his death on Dec. 13, 1997.

She achieved academic success later in life, graduating from Northwest Mississippi Community College’s school of nursing and going on to work at a number of medical facilities, including Batesville Manor Nursing Home.

Mrs. Aldy was a member of First United Pentecostal Church of Batesville, and her hobbies included Bible study, quilting and traveling to visit her family members and friends. She was an avid reader of mystery novels, an accomplished gardener and a genius at making cornbread, biscuits and banana pudding. She was kind, loving and thoughtful, but also strong- minded, fiercely protective of her family — and quite accomplished at clearly expressing her opinion on a variety of subjects.

Mrs. Aldy was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Billy Ray Aldy, and by four children: James Aldy, Roy Mitchell “Mickey” Aldy, Linda Aldy Weaver and Sandra Aldy Harrell; a grandson, Jonathon Aldy; her parents, Harvey and Sally Cheek; two sisters, Helen Sue Brazzil and Myrtis Clack; a brother, Percy Cheek, and numerous half sisters and brothers.

She is survived by a daughter, Carolyn Gowan (James) of Philadelphia; two sons: Mark Aldy of Batesville and Bill Aldy (Yvette) of Sardis; and 12 grandchildren:

She is also survived by a brother-in-law, Claydeen Clack of Rayville, La., and by numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

William Reed Buntin Sr.

Batesville – William Reed Buntin Sr., age 84, passed away Sunday morning, July 22, 2018, at his home. He was the husband of Ruth Turman Buntin. 

Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Wednesday, July 25, 2018 in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home in Batesville with visitation beginning at 1 p.m. prior to the service.

Harvey Donaldson Jr.

ENID – Harvey Donaldson Jr., 75, died Saturday, July 21, 2018 at the North Mississippi Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford. Harvey was the husband of Lourice M. Donaldson of Enid.

Funeral services were Monday, July 23, 2018, at Wells Funeral Home with interment in Forrest Memorial Park.

Harvey was born January 12, 1943 in Charleston, to the late Harvey and Ruby Ray Donaldson. Harvey was a retired electrician and member of Friendship East Baptist Church near Charleston.

Peggy Ann Jaudon Glisson

LONGVIEW, Texas – Peggy Ann Roberson Jaudon Glisson, age 81, passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at the Christus Good Shepherd Hospital in Longview, Texas. She was the wife of the late William “Bill” Glisson.

There will be a memorial service for Peggy at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 26, 2018 at Wells Funeral Home in Batesville. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Reverend Kevin Crofford will be officiating. 

Peggy was born May 11, 1937 to the late Verna and Leat Roberson in Pope. During Peggy’s life she worked as a seamstress for Fruit of the Loom. She loved sewing, knitting, and crocheting.

The family she leaves behind include her son, Rickey Jaudon (Susan) of Longview, TX; three step- children of FL; five grandchildren, Brandon Jaudon (Cynthia) of Waskom, TX., Ryan Jaudon of Long-view, TX., Aubree Jaudon Coleman (Chris) of Harleton, TX., Lacy Jaudon of MS and Britt Jaudon of Kansas City, KS; three step-grandchildren; and 23 great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Peggy is preceded in death by her first husband, Eldon Josh Jaudon; her second husband, William “Bill” Glisson; her son, Roy Jaudon; one sister, Betty Roberson Brower; and three brothers, Murry Roberson, Gene Roberson, and Rubel Roberson.
