Henry ‘Mickey’ Casey

COURTLAND- Henry “Mickey” Casey, 57, died at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford on November 21, 2017.
Visitation will be Friday, December 1, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary in Batesville. Funeral services will be Saturday, December 2, at 2 p.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary Chapel. Walter Williams Sr. will officiate. Interment will follow in New Bethlehem Church Cemetery.
Mr. Casey was born on July 12, 1960 to Roy Casey Sr. and Mary Lydia Neal Casey of Batesville. He was an employee of the City of Batesville Street Department.

Glispie Marquis

LAMBERT–M SGT. (Ret.) Glispie Marquis, age 82, passed away Saturday evening, November 25, 2017 at Regional One Medical Center in Memphis.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 29, 2017 in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with interment to follow in Forrest Memorial Park with full military honors.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, November 28, at Wells Funeral Home from 5 – 8 p.m.
M SGT. (Ret.) Glispie was born January 3, 1935 in Lambert to the late Walter Hulon and Maggie Leonard Marquis.
He had dedicated his life to serving his country with 22 years of service in the U.S. Army, also while serving in the Vietnam War where he received a Bronze Star.
Following his retirement, M SGT. (Ret.) Marquis loved spending his time with his grand and great-grandchildren. He also spent a great amount of time as a military historian.
M SGT. (Ret.) Marquis’ loving memory and dedicated legacy will be cherished by his two sons, Michael A. Marquis of Yardley, Penn. and Walter Gregory Marquis of Grenada; sister, Lartee Marquis White of Kalamazoo, Mich.; half-sister, Beverly Newton of Snellville, Ga.; half-brother, Lamar Marquis of Alabama; three grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Rena Arlene Corley Marquis; sister, Eloise White; brother, Homer Marquis.

Edna McRee Sorrells

SARDIS–Edna McRee Sorrells, 85, died Thursday, November 23, 2017 at Sardis Community Nursing Home.
Funeral services for Mrs. Sorrells were held on Sunday, November 26, at Wells Funeral Home. Interment followed at Hebron Cemetery. Rev. Rusty Roberson officiated.
Mrs. Sorrells was born in Panola County to the late Russell Samuels and Odessie Moore Samuels.
She was a homemaker and a member of Hebron Baptist Church.
