Ole Miss held its pro day Monday for 20 former college athletes to showcase their talents in front of every NFL team.
Three past participants were from Panola County and all played at South Panola as teammates. Now all three will be hoping to join the NFL together.
Temario Strong, Issac Gross and Tony Conner all had decent numbers. Gross is coming off of a season that was post-injury where he was a highly sought out talent headed in the post season last year but after being injured after the second game he came back in 2016 and had a good year.
Gross weighed 254 and measured at 6’0”. On bench press he maxed out at 22 reps with 225 pounds, jumped a 29.5 vertical and a 9-8 broad. He ran a 5.1 40-yard dash and a 4.75 short shuttle and finished with a 7.8 L-drill. Gross worked out at defensive tackle and at linebacker.
Conner is in the same boat with Gross with torn ACL in the 2015 season where he was predicted to be the second safety coming off of the board behind Karl Joseph of West Virginia. But the injury kept in him at Ole Miss for one more season and he had a slow start to his senior season.
Conner went out to prove the scouts that he still can play on his once damaged knee.
Conner weighed in at 214 and measured 5’11”. On bench press he maxed out at 14 reps with 225 pounds and ran a 4.75 40 yard dash. He did not participate in any other drills other than position drills.
Temario Strong was a big component for the Rebels in the 2016 season especially on the goal line where he was inserted at middle linebacker to stop the run. Strong was also a special teams star for the Rebels in the 2015-16 seasons. Strong is looking for an opportunity to show that he can make an impact in the league.
He weighed in at 235 and measured 6’0”. On bench press he maxed out at 14 reps with 225 pounds, he jumped a 32.3 vertical and a 8-7 broad. He ran a 4.7 40 yard dash and a 4.53 short shuttle and finished with a 7.1 L-drill.
Watch to see if these players will be drafted on April 27 on ESPN, ESPN2 and NFL Network.
