Sheriff’s Report: Resident runs over ex-boyfriend

Deputy Jeremy Hailey responded to Roberson Lane after receiving reports of a man being run over by his ex-girlfriend on Tuesday, March 21. The victim reported he and his ex-girlfriend were arguing and stated she hit him several times.
According to the report, the suspect was in her vehicle with the door open while the suspect was standing in between the door and car when the suspect started backing up, dragging the victim out of the driveway and running over his foot.
Deputy Harold Lewis responded to Hickory Lane, Sardis where an individual reported he was at his friend’s house and advised his friend’s son had recently moved in with his father after losing his wife and kids.
According to the report, the individuals were drinking, joking and got into a fight where the victim was stabbed in the back on his left side. The victim was transported to the Med by AirEvac. Both victims decided not to file charged.
The Panola County Sheriff’s Office received 46 other calls for service requesting the assistance of Panola County Deputies from March 10 to March 23.
March 10
• Pope-Water Valley Road resident reported to Deputy Tim Campbell someone broke into his old house on Crouch road and stole 100 old vinyl records worth approximately $5,000.
According to the report, the resident stated he heard an individual in Courtland was trying to sale some old records. Deputy Campbell attempted to make contact with the individual but was unable to do so.
March 13
• Shiloh Road, Courtland resident reported to Deputy Britton Crawford she arrived home and noticed her house had been burglarized. According to the report, a checkbook, Credit Union bank card and watch were taken.
March 15
• Rock Hill Road resident reported to Deputy Darryl House someone came to her residence and hit her gold Hyundai with a brick.
March 17
• Deputy McLarty conducted a traffic stop on a black Ford Taurus on Carlile Road for no tag. According to the report, the driver had a warrant for her arrest out of Sardis and consented to a search of the vehicle.
During the search, several syringes with a liquid substance, a white crystal-like substance and a small bottle of liquid lithium was found. The suspects were transported to the Panola County Sheriff’s Office.
• Deputy Crawford spoke to an individual who reported she was attempting to sell a piano on Craigslist. The individual advised she received multiple offers and then received a check from Pueblo Bank.
According to the report, the bank stated the check was not valid and advised her not to cash it. The bank also reported they have had multiple complaints about the same scam.
• Eureka Rd. resident reported witnesses observed two suspects in her yard around the time her state ID, SS card, shot records, pay roll card, bank card, CD player and PS2 went missing.
• Audrey Road resident reported to Deputy McLarty he was checking his deer blind on Shiloh Rd. and found a Poulan Chainsaw. The chainsaw was placed into evidence.
• Westdale Drive resident reported to Deputy McLarty her husband destroyed her house.
“I observed several objects spray painted and destroyed,” stated Deputy McLarty. The resident was advised to take pictures of the damage and contact her attorney.
• Deputy George Renfroe spoke to a Fudgetown Rd. resident who reported the suspect pulled into his driveway flipping him off and cursing him.
March 18
• Dunson Ave., Crowder resident reported to Captain Willie Harris her niece hit her, stating someone told her the aunt wanted to fight her.
• Deputy McLarty spoke to a Lamb St. resident who reported he was parked on Humphres St. talking to an individual when the suspect pulled up and pushed his door closed as he attempted to exit his vehicle.
According to the report, the suspect pulled a .22 revolver on him and he left.
• Sardis Lake Drive resident reported to Deputy Renfroe the suspect broke into his mother-in-law’s residence.
According to the report, the suspect pushed the front door to the residence open and walked into the victim’s bedroom and then proceeded to go through the home. Deputy Renfroe located the suspect at a residence on Windover Drive.
According to the report, an individual opened the door to the residence stating the suspect was “going out the back.”
“As I approached the back door already open, I observed the suspect trying to get into a closet in the bathroom,” stated Deputy Renfroe.
The suspect was placed into custody and taken back to the residence for further investigation.
• Deputy Crawford spoke to a Grenada resident who reported she had some work done on her vehicle and advised the transmission she had in her vehicle was not the same one she had taken them.
• Longtown Rd., Sarah resident reported to Deputy Renfroe his wife was harassing him by phone and coming to their home. According to the report, the wife and husband are living at the same address.
March 19
• Deputy Crawford received a report stating two female juveniles escaped from the Sunflower Landing facility and advised they were sitting in Love’s parking lot.
According to the report, an individual picked up the juveniles in Marks and took them to Crenshaw for the night and then brought them to Love’s the next morning.
Deputy Crawford was advised by Crenshaw PD the male suspect was out on bond for burglary. According to the report, the suspect knew the juveniles were escaping from a facility that they were in the lawful custody by court order and hid them in Crenshaw until the following day.
• Deputy Crawford was dispatched to Westmorland Circle to assist the resident in removal of her belongings. Upon arrival, the resident advised the suspect put his hands on her and stated she wanted to get some belongings to go stay at her mothers. Deputy Crawford advised the resident she could file charges for simple assault.
March 20
• Debowen Wilson Rd. resident reported to Deputy Jeff Still he heard knocking on his door and when he opened it two men wearing black hoodies pushed him inside, hitting him and yelling “where is the drugs, where is the money.” The resident stated nothing was taken from the house.
• Atkins St., Sardis resident reported to Deputy House someone broke into his house sometime between February 12 and February 27 and stole approximately $645 worth of property. According to the report, the resident got one stolen item back, a pair of Nike sandals.
• Deputy John Still received a report of an abandoned red Ford F-150. According to the report, the vehicle was stolen out of Oxford. The vehicle was towed and Oxford PD was notified.
• Lieutenant Chuck Tucker spoke to a Dees Road resident who reported catching some men on his property messing with a cell tower and loading up his property onto a trailer.
According to the report, the resident made the individuals unload the property and leave. The resident notified C-spire of the incident.
• Eureka Rd. resident reported to Lieutenant Tucker his son was at the residence trying to get his four wheeler from another individual when the individual threatened his son. According to the report, the individual pulled a gun from his car and fired three shots into the air.
• Sanders Rd. resident reported to Deputy House an individual tried to bust the windows out of his vehicle and stated she took an iron pipe and knocked a dent in the left side door.
March 21
• Deputy Tucker responded to Plum Point Rd. where the resident reported $1,200 in jewelry was missing. According to the report, the resident recently allowed a girl to move in with her and stated she has found one of her diamond bracelets in the yard and noticed other pieces of jewelry she owned listed for sale on the internet.
• Hudson Rd., Sardis resident reported to Captain Harris someone from Cash Net USA had taken $157.90 from his debit account and someone from ZocalIn/Debit had taken $192.01 from his account.
• Springport Rd., Sardis residence reported to Deputy Hunter Lawrence two of her neighbor’s dogs were in her yard and attacked two of her other neighbor’s dogs. According to the report, the resident is afraid of the dogs and requested to get a weapon to protect herself from the dogs
• Springport Rd., Sardis resident reported to Deputy Lawrence her dogs broke out of their dog pen and ran onto the neighbor’s property.
According to the report, one neighbor came over to her residence with a rife and stated he would kill her dogs if they attacked his dogs again while on his or the other neighbor’s property.
• Upton Rd., Pope resident reported to Deputy House a female came to his residence and stole approximately $404 worth of property. According to the report, the individuals returned to his property and sold some of the stolen items back to him and has them on video.
March 22
• Deputy McLarty responded to Snider Rd. for a death investigation. MedState arrived and advised Deputy McLarty to contact Panola County Coroner Gracie Grant Gulledge. Deputy Coroner Charles Rhea arrived and took possession of the body.
• Investigator Terri Smith was notified of a barn on fire on Tocowa Rd. The owner was notified by his neighbor of the fire.
According to the report, the owner used to allow kids to fish in his pond near the barn but had to stop because he was having problems. The owner believes one of the juveniles is angry with him and may have started the fire. According to the report, investigation revealed the children were with parents during the time of the fire.
• Deputy Renfroe was assisting in the recovery of stolen property and as the suspect arrived Deputy Renfroe pulled up to the vehicle and noticed the passenger opened his door and set something outside.
According to the report, the passenger placed a white sock with a glass pipe in it outside of the vehicle. The passenger was searched and a plastic sack of what the passenger admitted was ice was located in his front pocket. Both suspects were placed into custody.
• Tocowa Rd., Courtland resident reported someone slashed her left front tire with a knife.
• Longtown Rd., Sarah resident reported to Deputy Maurice Market he came home from work and noticed some of his cans missing.
According to the report, the suspect hit him in the face with a piece of metal. Deputy Market was advised the suspect had a warrant out of Kentucky. The suspect was transported to the Panola County Jail.
March 23
• Woodruff Rd., Courtland resident reported to Captain Harris Panola County Deputies used excessive force while attempting to arrest her son. According to the report, the resident stated when she opened the door she forgot to set the alarm and shut the door on them to reset the alarm.
The resident stated she asked for a copy of the warrant and advised they stated they did not have the hard copy of the warrant.
“Then, they said that they will arrest me for obstructing and I asked them if they had a warrant for my arrest. Then, they tased my son and pointed the taser at my kids,” stated the resident.
The resident also stated deputies put holes in her wall and door while making the arrest.
• Investigator Smith responded to a fire on South Pocohontas St. where fire personnel advised they had to cut the lock to the gate to enter the property and put out the fire.
According to the report, a neighbor had been burning some stuff in his yard and some sparks re-ignited and burned an older model Ford Thunderbird car.
• Investigator Smith responded to another fire on Harmonica Road where an individual had a controlled burn in progress and failed to notify surrounding fire departments.
According to the report, fire personnel responded to the scene and the resident promised to contact local departments in the future.
• Willow Rd., Sardis resident reported to Deputy Market her ex-boyfriend was throwing bricks at her vehicle, then started sending threatening text messages to her phone.
• Autumn Ave. resident reported her 30-year-old son missing. According to the report, the resident stated her son hasn’t been seen or heard from since Tuesday, March 21. The resident advised he is probably abusing drugs and dealing with some mental issues.
• Audrey Rd., Courtland resident advised someone came on his property and stole a cut-off saw and an 18 volt electric drill.
• Deputy Renfroe spoke to a Hwy. 6 East, Sardis resident who reported an unknown male paid for gas and began pumping.
According to the report, after placing the nozzle in his gas tank the individual went back into the store, then got in his car and drove off causing damage to the pump.
• Hammond Hill Rd., Como resident stated an individual came to her house wanting to see his child and she refused to let him inside because of his strange behavior.
According to the report, the individual began kicking her car causing damage to the vehicle. The resident was advised to go to Justice Court and file charges.
•McNeely Rd. resident reported to Investigator Smith he was farming and noticed someone had stolen some chemicals. According to the report, five gallons of Sterling® Blue and 7.5 gallons of Roundup® was stolen from the property.
