The North Delta boys’ basketball team defeated Lee Academy in district action Thursday night 40-33.  They completed the sweep of the Colts on the season to receive their second district win this season.
North Delta stayed in their 2-3 zone for the entire game, which frustrated Lee Academy, as they could not find room to score.  The Green Wave defense held them to just two points in the second quarter.
This second quarter helped cement a small lead they would keep for the majority of the game.  When it seemed like Lee was gaining momentum, North Delta would find a way to create a turnover or suffocate the Colts until they could control the pace of the game.
Consistency showed to be the deciding factor in the game.  North Delta showed that in scoring 12, 10, eight, and 10 in each quarter.  The second quarter had defense showed to be a deciding factor in the game.
Scoring was balanced throughout the team with no real leaders.  Avery Rowland used eight first quarter points and led the team with nine points on the night.  He also had four rebounds and one assist.
Behind him were: Cole Devazier, six points, two steals, three assists, and one block; Joseph Cox, six points and two rebounds; Luke Lewis, four points, two rebounds, one assist, and one block; Alex Greenlee, six rebounds, one assist, and two blocks; Ely Bryant, four points, four rebounds, and one assist; Nelson Howell, five points, two rebounds, and one assist; Miles Garner, two points and two rebounds; and Chris Burchfield, two points, two rebounds, and one assist.

The boys’ Junior Varsity team squeaked by Lee Academy 36-33.  Both teams used 2-3 zones to stymie each team’s offense.  North Delta outlasted the Colts in a defensive game.
Colin Hartman was on fire from behind the three-point line as he had five three pointers in the game for all 15 of his points.  That as well as a more aggressive approach helped the Green Wave drive to the basket as well as get offensive rebounds to score just enough to beat Lee academy.
Behind Hartman were: Ryan Gibson (11), Walt Miller (3), Drake Barton (3), and Jordan Cox (4).
