Lyndon Mosely, who was shot last Tuesday from a passing vehicle while he was traveling west on Highway 6, remains in a Memphis hospital but is showing improvement, according to his wife, Coesha Mosely, who is at his side.
According to Mrs. Mosely the suspects were unknown to her husband although others in the vehicle may have known the assailants. Mrs. Mosely said earlier reports that her husband was involved in an altercation with suspects prior to the shooting were not true.
Mosely also said that a three-month old infant was also a passenger in the vehicle when her husband was shot in the head.
An Oxford man, Jordan Montrey Willliams, turned himself in Thursday afternoon and has been arrested and charged with four counts of aggravated assault.
Panola County Sheriff investigator Terry Smith said Wednesday additional suspect(s) in the other vehicle from which shots were fired had been identified and were being located for investigation.
Mosely was shot in the head, in the left eye from another car heading west near the Lafayette/Panola County line according to Smith who said the victim was then driven to Merit Health in Batesville and 911 was called by passengers in the car.
The investigator said the sheriff’s department received the 911 call at approximately 3 p.m. Tuesday.
Smith also said that Mosely was flown from Merit-Health to the MED in Memphis after arriving at the Batesville emergency room.
Mosely was supposed to return to North Carolina December 1 following a leave for the birth of their baby according to Mrs. Mosely who said Friday she had received a lot of help from family members caring for her children.
“They are getting what they need,” she said.
