Volunteers ready to host holiday meal at Armory

By Rita Howell
For the fifth year in a row, a crew of volunteers, led by Gale and Jeffrey Bean, will prepare, serve, and in some cases, deliver, Thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings, free of charge, to anyone who wants it.
The event began as a way to offer a holiday meal to the underprivileged, but the Beans say they realized that many in the community, particularly the elderly, might not be financially needy, but might just be sitting at home alone that day, with no family or plans for the day.
So they welcome anyone who doesn’t have an opportunity otherwise to enjoy the traditional meal at the Batesville National Guard Armory on Keating Road. Serving will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Anyone who needs a ride to the armory can call 609-3846. Anyone who needs to have a meal delivered can call the same number.
