Lady Tigers bag win over Lafayette

Batesville Junior High eighth grade girls bagged a 14-7 victory against Lafayette at home Tuesday night as the 7th grade Lady Tigers fell 10-7.
The eighth grade girls scored five points in the first quarter with Nahriah Connor and Chrystal Mayes banking two pointers. Mayes was fouled and managed to earn another point on a free throw.
Lafayette began scoring in the second with two points from free throws. Kimya Spears and Kiersten Clark were fouled and added an extra point each with a free throw, followed by Spears’ two pointer with five seconds left in the first half.
The Lady Tigers were up 9-2 to start the second half. Lafayette attempted to catch up, scoring three points in the third. The Lady Tigers weren’t going down without a fight as Connor added another two points to the score from two free throw shots.
The final quarter began with a free throw shot by Lafayette, adding a point to their score. Mayes scored the last three points for the Lady Tigers by sinking a free throw and two a basket.
As time ran out a Lafayette player was fouled and received a final free throw which added another point to their score, making the final score 14-7.

The Lady Tigers were unable to score in the first as Lafayette put up four points. Both teams managed to score two points in the second as McGheyla Patton threw for two. Lafayette maintained their lead with another two pointer in the third. The Lady Tigers followed suit as Ty’Tiana Suggs and Patton both sunk a two pointer bringing the score closer, 6-8. In the fourth, Lafayette scored bringing their finall score to 10 as Amaya Flowers takes back the ball for the Lady Tigers and passes to Patton who is fouled. Patton made a free throw to end the game 10-7.
