Not quite ready, but the Eureka Street entrance to the Square will be open for heavy traffic at night and the weekend, weather permitting and closed during work hours Friday officials said.
The raised crosswalk, designed to slow traffic and make the Square more pedestrian friendly, will be well-marked by the time it is opened to traffic, Deputy Police Chief Jimmy McCloud said.
City workers will place “rumble strips” in approach lanes, flashing light signs and warnings to slow vehicles to 10 miles-per-hour before completion.As the sun lowered Wednesday afternoon (from left) Jason Lowery, Chris Brocato, McCloud, Henry Lawson and Jim Fowler discussed work remaining to complete the project.
