Batesville Pee Wees sweep Grenada

The Batesville Tiger Pee Wee football teams made it a complete sweep by taking all the games from Grenada Saturday at Robert H. Dunlap stadium.
Batesville (7-8’s) 13, Grenada 6
After spotting Grenada a 6-0 lead after one quarter of play, the Tigers added a touchdown in the second and third quarter to come away with the victory.
Quarterback Javon Dean connected with Kaleb Cole for a 67-yard scoring pass with Tyson Lee running in the conversion to give Batesville a 7-6 halftime lead.
The score stayed that way until late in the third when Dean called his own number and scampered 15 yards into the endzone for a 13-6 Tiger advantage.
Batesville iced the game  as JaCameron Lee picked off a Grenada pass at the Tiger 45 and returned it to the Charger 18 with 37 seconds left in the game. Lee also recorded a fumble recovery earlier in the fourth quarter.
Batesville (9-10’s) 20, Grenada 7
Michael Johnson, Jr. scored on a 48-yard run in the third quarter to help guide the Tigers. Batesville took a 6-0 lead on the opening drive of the game on a Bryson Hamilton two-yard plunge. Johnson keyed the drive with a 28-yard gain to the Grenada three.
Antraviyun Clark tacked on a 30-yard touchdown run in the fourth followed by Kellen Norwood’s successful PAT. Grenada avoided the shutout with a two-yard run with 59 seconds left in the game. Marcus Christon, Jr. added an interception for Batesville.
Batesville-(11-12’s)- 49 Grenada-7
Jaiden McKinney accounted for five Tiger touchdowns as Batesville romped over the Chargers. McKinney was on the receiving end of scoring strikes of 50, 29 and 16 yards from quarterback David Hubbard before adding a 10-yard run and a 41-yard interception return as the Tigers led 34-0 after three quarters of play.
Charles Wren added a 31-yard fumble return and tackled a Grenada runner in the endzone for a safety. Brock Ware and Duke Hoskins had fumble recoveries for Batesville.
The Tigers will host Tupelo Saturday at 10 a.m in the final regular games of the season.
