SP softball pull win over Saltillo 5-2

The South Panola slowpitch softball team defeated Saltillo Monday night at home 5-2. The Lady Tigers started scoring early with two runners reaching the plate in the first inning.
The second inning was scorless as the Lady Tigers continued to hold Saltillo to no runs in the top of the third. Tra’Meisha Toliver made a catch at second followed by a double play where Toliver scooped up a grounder and tossed it to second to Sydney Morgan and then to Tia Townsend at first for the two outs. Chloe Morgan hit over the fence for a run in the bottom of the third. Sydney Morgan managed all three outs in the top of the fourth with two throws to first and a catch for the outs.
Lee Todd Ware reached first on a single followed by a walk to first by Toliver. Sydney Morgan loaded the bases with a single. Madison Morgan singled driving home Ware for the only run of the inning for the Lady Tigers.
South Panola played a three up three down defense in the top of the fifth with catches by Chloe Morgan, Ware and Sydney Morgan. The Lady Tigers scored their final run in the bottom of the fifth as Jannaria Sanford, Morgan Parker and Tia Townsend reached first on a single, loading the bases. Sanford scored on a single by Ware.
The Lady Tigers were determined to keep Saltillo from scoring and the sixth inning remained scoreless for both teams. In their final chance at bat Saltillo managed to get a runner on base and score as another Saltillo batter hit deep to left and over the fence. The Lady Tigers stopped the run and took the win over Saltillo 5-2.
South Panola vs. New Hope
The Lady Tigers traveled to New Hope Thursday, September 22 where they were bested in both games 15-1 and 18-0. The Lady Tigers single run came from a homerun hit by Chloe Morgan.
South Panola will travel to face Saltillo Monday at 5 p.m.
