Barbara Blair

Barbara Zangwill Blair, 79, widow of Bobby Joe Blair, died Sunday, September 25, 2016, at the Memphis Jewish Home in Cordova.
Graveside services were held Tuesday, September 27, at Forrest Memorial Park in Batesville.
She was born June 11, 1937, to the late Sol Zangwill and Sally Zangwill in Memphis. She was an administrative assistant for the Shelby County Board of Education. Barbara and her husband were always involved in the City of Memphis, from the University, to the Zoo and Museums.
Barbara was an animal lover. She enjoyed lunch dates with friends and was a champ at Movie Trivia. Of all the hobbies, Barbara’s beloved husband was the finest hobby of all.
Those left to cherish her loving memory include: her sister-in-law, Beverly Blair-Hill of Memphis, her brother-in-law, Gary Blair of Batesville, two cousins, Rima Block Duvall of Memphis, and Sylvia Weinberg of Marietta, Ga., and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family ask in lieu of flowers that memorials in Barbara’s name be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at 713 S. Mendenhall Rd., Memphis, TN 38117.

Darrell Lee Cook

BATESVILLE––Darrell Lee Cook, age 81, passed away Thursday, September 22, 2016, at his home in Batesville, MS.
A memorial service for Mr. Cook was held Sunday, September 25, 2016, at Wells Funeral Home in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home in Batesville.
Born January 22, 1395, in Massillon, Ohio, to the late John Henry Cook and Rose Anna Elener Cook, Darrell was one of five children.
He proudly served his country in the Army. Darrell was a retired production supervisor for Parker Hannifin.
He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Batesville.
Those he leaves behind to cherish his memory include: his daughter; Karen Cook Jones (Dekki) of Batesville, sons; Richard W. Cook of Batesville, and Eric D. Cook of Kimberly, Ala., one sister; June Schill of Ohio; grandchildren; Kelsey Cook, Tabitha Cook, Carson Cook, Hunter Cagle, Reagon Lofton, Callie Jones and Jessica Davis.
In addition to his parents, Darrell Lee was preceded in death by 3 siblings; Janis Schill, Kay Montagner, and Paul R. Manely.

 

Dianne Lewis Crowder

Dianne Lewis Crowder, 60, died Sunday, September 25, 2016, at her residence.
Graveside services will be held Sunday, October 2 at 2 p.m. at Batesville Cemetery. Pastor Zannie Leland will officiate. Visitation will be held noon until service time. Cooley’s Mortuary has charge of arrangements.
Ms. Crowder was born February 7, 1956, to Sammie Lewis and Alberta Attaway.

 

Brill Donell Harmon

Bill Donell Harmon, 47, died Saturday, September 24, 2016, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Desoto.
Services will be held Saturday, October 1, at noon at Thyatira Family Life Center in Senatobia. Rev. Ronald Myers will officiate. Burial will be in Harris Chapel C.M.E. Church Cemetery in Senatobia.
Harmon, born November. 16, 1968, in Sardis, to Johnney Slater of Sardis and Bernice Harmon of Huntsville, Ala., graduated from North Panola High School and was a plumber for Harmon Plumbing and Davis Construction.

Devin Lashun Turner

SARDIS––Kevin Lashun Turner, 40, died September 26, 2016, at his residence.
Services will be held Saturday, October 1, at Cooley’s Mortuary Chapel. Pastor Irving Bishop will officiate. Visitation will be held September 30 from  noon to 6 p.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary. Burial will be held at New Rock Hil Cemetery in Sardis.
Turner, born Nov. 29, 1975, in Sardis, to the late T.J. Johnson and the late Corine Turner, was a factory worker at Windsor Food Company. He was a member of New Rock Hill M.B. Church.
