Four shoplifting cases brought before municipal court

Two defendants were referred to the grand jury, among cases heard during Batesville Municipal Court Wednesday with Judge Bill McKenzie presiding.
Jecoleman Street, 100 Hobbs St., Batesville, had a preliminary hearing set for June 8 to give him time to get a lawyer. He faces charges of sale of controlled substance, possession of controlled substance with intent, felony firearm enhancement and open container.
Parrish Donahue, 206 Woodland Rd., Batesville, was referred to the grand jury for grand larceny. He bonded out prior to court.
Garry D. Cox, 74 Sherwood Dr., Batesville, paid old fines of $944 due since September 2015 in full prior to court. He was referred to the grand jury for felony possession of controlled substance, possession of marijuana in vehicle, no seat belt and suspended driver’s license.
Quentin L. Cox, 101 Everette St., Batesville, was found guilty of possession of marijuana in a vehicle. He was fined $683.
Jermarcus L. Holmes, 211 Noble, Batesville, entered a not guilty plea to petit larceny. A trial was set for June 1.
Deandre D. Cole, 112 Williams, Batesville, failed to appear to answer possession of marijuana in a vehicle, driving while license suspended, no proof of insurance and old fines of $1,670 due since November 2013.
Raishun E. Hewlette, 204-C Lester, Batesville, was found not guilty of domestic violence-simple assault after the affiant failed to appear to prosecute.
Renita L. Taylor, 117-A Vance St., Batesville, entered a guilty plea to disorderly conduct-interfering with a business and also had old fines of $878 due since November 2015. She was told to have all of the fines due.
Markietric D. Joy, 1239 Lawrence Brothers, Batesville, failed to appear to answer charges for malicious mischief and old fines of $567 due since November 2014. A warrant was issued.
Dulce R. Lopez, 216 Broadway, Batesville, entered a not guilty plea to simple assault. A trial was set for May 25.
Justin S. Hadorn, 50 Bus 7S, Abbeville, entered a not guilty plea to shoplifting a ceiling fan, faucet, towel bar and other items worth $247.98 from Lowe’s. A trial was set for June 1.
Sandy Trusty, 498 S Jackson Rd., Grenada, entered a guilty plea to shoplifting. She was fined $1,146. MDOC also has a hold.
Wesley H. Rogers, 498 South Jackson Rd., Grenada, entered a guilty plea to shoplifting tank tops, a Guitar Hero video game and other items from Walmart worth over $100. He was fined $1,146.
Herbert M. Testerman, 10860 Rd. 838, Philadelphia, failed to appear to answer charges for shoplifting, failure to stop to blue lights, no proof of insurance and reckless driving. A warrant was issued.
Myron M. Walton, 233 West St., Batesville, entered a guilty plea to DUI. He was fined $779.
Teddi L. Smith, 107 Williams St., Batesville, had old fines of $839 due since April 2010. Smith was told to have the fines paid or serve time in jail.
Candace Stevenson, 25527 Hwy. 35 N., Batesville, was found guilty of speeding and fined $145.
Terry Osborn, 232 Perkins Lane, Batesville, had a case for stalking continued.
Stanley C. McMiller Jr., 165 Henry Dr. Ext., Courtland, had a case for domestic violence-simple and disturbing the peace continued.
Clint Ware, 2386 Anthony Rd., Pope, had a case for possession of paraphernalia dismissed.
Jamika Jones, 910 Molly Barr Rd., Oxford, was found guilty of driving while license suspended. After showing the judge she had her license reinstated no fine was imposed.
