SP baseball opens first round playoffs at Clinton

The South Panola Tigers snapped a four-game losing skid with a 11-1 road victory over Columbus Tuesday night to end the regular season at 3-6 in Region 2-6A play and 10-17 overall.
South Panola banged out nine hits as Cole Rotenberry led the way with three hits that included a triple and three runs batted in. Turner Rotenberry added a double and two singles along with two RBI’s.
Kyle Weaver chipped in with a double and two runs driven in while Zach Hopper registered a single and two runs driven in. Dalton Barefoot supplied a single and scored two runs.
Anderson Wilder went three innings on the mound to earn the win. The sophomore righty gave up one run and struck out three. Nathan Herron fanned two batters in one inning of work while Chase Durham struck out one batter in one inning of relief.
South Panola opens up the North 6A State playoffs tonight at Clinton beginning at 7 p.m. Game two of the best-of-three game series switches to Batesville tomorrow night also at 7 p.m. Game three, if necessary, will be at Clinton Monday with a 7 p.m. game time start.
