Photo op coming for train enthusiasts

By Rupert Howell
Train enthusiasts and others may be glad to know an 80-mile train trip from Batesville to Grenada has been scheduled for January 30 by the National Railway Historical Society, according to a news release from that organization.

Tickets are available ranging from $50 to $100 with a table of four available for $150.
The train will  depart downtown Batesville at 9 a.m. with two photo runbys (an opportunity to photograph the train as it goes by) planned on the Grenada end of the trip.

The train will arrive in Grenada for lunch around 12:30 p.m allowing photo opportunities and passengers an opportunity for lunch on their own in Grenada where several food trucks will be located or those interested can take a short walk to the Grenada Square three blocks away.
The 10-car “Illinois Central”-painted train, pulled by E8 locomotives, is scheduled to arrive back in Batesville at 5 p.m. with a photo runby scheduled for the north end.
