Barbara Fondren Parham
BATESVILLE––Barbara Fondren Parham, 54, died Friday, October 9, 2015, at Golden Living Center.

Services were held Sunday, October 18 at Cooley’s Mortuary. Pastor Zannie Leland officiated. Burial was in First Concord Church Cemetery. Cooley’s Mortuary had charge.

Parham, born July 7, 1961, in Batesville, to the late George Fondren Sr. and Everlena Mitchell Fondren, graduated from South Panola High School in 1978. She was a clerk at Belk’s Department Store in Greenville and a member of Mercy Seat Missionary Baptist Church in Greenville.

Survivors include: her husband, Anthony Parham Sr. of Greenville; one son, Anthony Parham Jr. of Greenville; three brothers, George Fondren Jr. of Batesville, Micheal Fondren of Louisiana and Jack Fondren of Memphis; two sisters, Mary Fondren of Batesville and Urma Lee Sullivan of Lake Wells, Fla. and two grandchildren.

Walter Wright
BATESVILLE––Walter Wright, 76, died Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Desoto.

Services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Eureka A.M.E. Zion Church in Batesville. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Oxford and also from 6 p.m. – 7 p.m. at Eureka A.M.E. Zion Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Hodges Funeral Home in Oxford has charge.

Wright was a retired construction worker.

Survivors include: one son, Arthur Walter Wright of Batesville; one daughter, Joesetta Rochelle Wright of Sardis; six sisters, Cora Mayes of Coldwater, Alice Marie Wright of  Memphis, Irma Dell Wright, Elizabeth Blackburn, Annie Bell Wright and Oretha Wright, all of Batesville; four brothers, Willie Frank Wright Jr. and Robert Wright both of Batesville, James Wright of Oxford and Dwight Lee of Greenville; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
