Parents seek support to help with son’s care

Dear Friends, Family and Community:
On Sept 4, 2011, our son Cedric McKinney suffered a life-changing traumatic brain injury following a devastating car accident.  Cedric, now 26, is in a minimal conscious state, is dependent on a trach to breathe, has a feeding tube, is able to move his eyes a bit but is unable to move his arms or his legs. We know that Cedric can hear but he is unable to respond.

Cedric graduated from South Panola High School.  At the time of the accident Cedric was in his senior year at MSU majoring in electrical engineering.  He was very faithful in going to church and a firm believer in God. He had just left church right before the accident.

Even with insurance, there are many expenses that are not covered and must be paid out of pocket. Cedric requires a caregiver 24/7. Our greatest need right now is to make some modifications to our home for Cedric so that he will have a wheelchair accessible bedroom and bathroom (he has only been able to have bed baths since he has been home).  We are also hoping that he will be able to continue with his desperately needed therapy.  This puts us up against a challenge we are unable to meet alone and need your support.
