ND awards boys basketball players

The North Delta School’s varsity boys and junior high basketball programs reflected their achievements during the 2014-15 season with its annual awards banquet recently at Arena One.
Before the proceedings took place, Green Wave boys head coach Harrison Nickle took time to recognized the North Delta golf team who won the MAIS Class AA State championship a day earlier.
Awards were given out first to the Junior High Lady Waves as Hannah Bollinger received the Gym Rat Award. Peyton Scott was voted Most Improved while Blakely Denman was chosen Best Defense player.

Best Offensive player: Allie Alford
Most Valuable Player: Mary Emily Morris
Co-Captains: Faith Bollinger, Mary Emily Morris
Junior High Boys recipients were:
Gym Rat: Walt Miller
Most Improved: Alex Greenlee
Best Defensive: Peyton Neal
Best Offensive: Matt Burchfield
Most Valuable Player: Luke Lewis
Co-Captains: Cole Devazier and Luke Lewis
Varsity Boys:
Gym Rat: Graves Baker
Most Improved: Dennis King
Best Offensive Player and All- District Honorable Mention: Ridge Simmerman
Beat Defensive: Bailey Sullivant
Most Valuable Player and All- District: Will Hartzell
Co-Captains: Bailey Sullivant and Will Hartzell
Michael Johnson Memorial Award: Alex Sigler
Nickle, who was assisted by Chris Herring and T. J. Douglas, introduced the schools’ new varsity head boys coach Robert Daniels to the audience.
Daniels, a 1975 graduate of Delta Academy, spent 1996- 2014 at Clarksdale Lee with previous stints at his Alma Mater and Fayette, Tenn. Daniels will also be assistant football coach.
