Sardis Mayor Billy Russell has challenged his board of aldermen and town residents to get out and clean up the town Saturday, June 6.
Russell asked the five aldermen to help organize their wards for cleanup that day and find volunteers interested in helping clean up the town.
Volunteers will meet in front of the Fire Station at City Hall with rumors of donuts or sausage and biscuits and coffee surfacing during Tuesday night’s monthly meeting.
Russell and Public Works Director Bubba McDowell met Monday with Panola Supervisors to ask them to pave the parking area around the Department of Human Services Building on East Lee Street.
McDowell told supervisors that the city was asking homeowners and business and property owners alike to clean up their areas.
Additional details of the June 6 cleanup will be forthcoming according to Russell.
