ATT has filed applications with the City of Batesville for permits that will allow it to serve Serta Company and Batesville Casket Company with new fiber optic communications cable. The applications are routine requests to be allowed to place the cable underground on city right-of-way as authorized by state law.

The cable will be laid along and/or under Crown Drive, Nosef Drive, Brewer Road and Keating Road, the applications state.

The destination for the cable is identified on the application by street addresses — Serta at 260 Highway 35 North and Batesville Casket Company at 310 Crown Drive.

Aldermen voted unanimously to approve the applications. The only stipulation that city officials requested was protection against relocation expenses if streets are later widened, forcing the cable to be moved.
