Martha Ann Stewart Armstead
COURTLAND–Martha Ann Stewart, 67, died Sunday, November 30, 2014, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center.

Services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Antioch M.B. Church. Rev. Jerome Battle will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Eddie Robinson Funeral Home has charge.
Armstead, born June 6, 1947, to the late Isabella McMurry and A.W. Ballentine was a member of Mt. Olivet M.B. Church and a homemaker.

Survivors include: three sons, Troy McMurry Sr. of Enid and Michael McMurry of Courtland and Terrell Stewart of Wiley, Texas; two daughters, Shantell Stewart-Maze of Courtland and Terrell Stewart of Wiley, Texas; two sisters, Lizzie Tucker of Missouri, Texas and Cherry McMurry of Jackson and four brothers, Eddie McMurry and Fred McMurry of Courtland and Walter McMurry of Milwaukee and Clarence McMurry of St. Louis.

Jack Burton “J.B.” Grant
CRENSHAW–Jack Burton “J.B.” Grant, 83, died Saturday, November 29, 2014, at Golden Living Center.

Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary. Pastor Reginald Reed will officiate. Burial will be in Bethlehem Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary.

Grant, born April 6, 1931, in Batesville, to the late Jack Grant and Viola Tyler, was a painter at Ed Nelson Painting Company and a member of St. Paul Church.
Survivors include one sister, Ever Ruth Allen of Courtland.

Edward Dewayne Houston
BATESVILLE––Edward Dewayne Houston, 28, died November 30, 2014, in Memphis.

Services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary. Pastor J.N. Mobley will officiate. Burial will be in Bethlehem Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary. Cooley’s Mortuary has charge.

Houston, born Jan. 8, 1986, to Hubert E. Houston of Batesville and Sarah E. Houston of Batesville, graduated from South Panola High School. He was a construction worker and a member of Mt. Zion M.B. Church in Batesville.

Survivors along with his parents include: two sons, Jaquavion D. Houston and Kald D. Houston, both of Batesville; two sisters, Tamikea Brown of Panama City, Fla. and Latunja D. Houston of Batesville and one brother, Jarmarus Robinson of Batesville. 

Mary Ann Lloyd
TUPELO––Mary Ann Lloyd, 77, formerly of Batesville, died Tuesday, November 25, 2014, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.

Graveside services were held Wednesday at Forrest Memorial Cemetery. Rev. Ed Woodall officiated. Dickins Funeral Home had charge.

Lloyd, born Feb. 28, 1937, in Houston, Texas, to the late Jack Christian and Sybil Warren Christian, was a member of First Church of God in Houston, Texas and a retired bookkeeper.
Survivors include: two daughters, Kim Youngblood of Lebanon, Tenn. and Jennifer Verneer of Snowflake, Ariz.; one son, Sidney Dade of Coldwater; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Boyd Daniel Perkins Sr.
BATESVILLE––Boyd Daniel Perkins Sr., 86, died Friday, November 21, 2014, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi.

Services were held Tuesday, Nov. 25 at Calvary Baptist Church. Burial was in Forrest Memorial Cemetery. Rev. Paul Middleton officiated. Dickins Funeral Home had charge.

Perkins, born Dec. 15, 1926, to the late Clifton Daniel Perkins and Elsie Louise Lewis Perkins, was a World War II veteran of the United States Navy and a member of Calvary Baptist Church where he was a charter member. He working as church treasurer, music leader and deacon. He retired from Tennessee Gas.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Rose Perkins.

Survivors include: one son, Boyd D. “Danny” Perkins Jr. and his wife Reba of Batesville; one daughter, Brenda J. Taylor and her husband Charles of Gautier; three brothers, Clayton Perkins of Sardis, Preston Perkins of Memphis and Daniel Perkins of Michigan; and four grandchildren, Kimberly Miletish, Kenneth Taylor, Danielle Purdy and her husband, Michael and Martha Margaret Bailey and her husband, Daniel and six great-grandchildren, Blake, Blaine, Balyee, Taylor, Owen and Oakley.

Memorials may be sent to Calvary Baptist Church Building fund.

Floyd Cecil Sanders
COURTLAND–Floyd Cecil Sanders, 82, died Sunday, November 30, 2014.

Services were held Tuesday at Dickins Funeral Home. Burial was in Magnolia Cemetery. Rev. Raymond Aven and Rev. Charles Locke officiated. Dickins Funeral Home had charge.

Sanders, born Jan. 8, 1932, in Scottsboro, Ala. to the late Oliver Dennis Sanders and Myrtle Cordle Smart Sanders, was a retired farmer and timber logger.

Survivors include: his wife of 58 years, Minnie Lou Norwood Sanders of Courtland; one daughter, Teresa Moore of Batesville; one son, Floyd Sanders Jr. of Gloucester, N.C.; two sisters, Ruby Woods of Cleveland and Joy Perry of Marks and two grandchildren.

Eddie Gene Stewart Jr.
BATESVILLE–Eddie Gene Stewart Jr., 69, died Sunday, November 30, 2014, at his residence.
Services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Pilgrim Rest M.B. Church. Pastor Melvin Ellis will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held 1 p.m. – 2 p.m. at the church. Cooley’s Mortuary has charge.

Stewart, born Dec. 25, 1944, in Pine Bluff, Ark., to the late Eddie Gene Stewart Sr. and Future Mae McMurrary, was a licensed high pressure boiler operator and a member of Pilgrim Rest M.B. Church.

Survivors include: his wife, Annie B. Chapman Stewart of Batesville; two daughters, Vacarri Stewart and Tyra Stewart, both of Milwaukee; two brothers, Dennis R. Stewart of Collins, Ga. and Dwayne E. Stewart of Tarrytown, New York; six sisters, Constance D. James, Evelyn Stewart Williams and Bettye D. Stewart, all of Milwaukee, Phyllis A. Stewart of Tarrytown, N.Y., Jerdine Rayburn of Chicago, Joann M. Carroll of Little Rock; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Albert Reed Wray
LITTLE ROCK––Albert Reed Wray, 96, formerly of Pope, died Friday, November 28, 2014, at the home of his daughter in Little Rock, Ark. 

He was born on February 17,1918, in Pope, to the late  Andrew Oliver and Addie Pearl Selby Wray.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Forest Hill Funeral Home South 2545 E. Holmes Rd. in Memphis. Visitation will be for 2 hours prior to the service.  Burial will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery at the same address.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Lorene Buchanan Wray and a son Jimmy Wray.

Reed is survived by his daughter, Betty Wray Grisham of Little Rock; one sister Imogene Wray Williford of Pope; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
