Lena Mae Cox
COMO–Lena Mae Cox died November 8 at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Desoto. She was 71.
Services will be held Saturday at noon at Cistern Hill M.B. Church in Como, with burial in the church cemetery. Henderson Funeral Home has charge. Visitation will be today from 4-6 at the funeral home.
Born April 28, 1943 in Como, Cox was a homemaker and a member of Cistern Hill M.B. Church.
Billy R. Ellis
POPE–Funeral services for Billy R. Ellis will be Sunday, November 16, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Olive Ray M.B. Church in Pope. Visitation will be at Townes Funeral Home on Saturday November 15, from 5-7pm
William Howard Geter Sr.
COLDWATER–William Howard Geter Sr., 51, died Tuesday, November 4 while working on clearing land on Hammond Hill Road near Como. He was killed when a tree limb fell on him.
Funeral services were November 8 at Paradise Baptist Church in Senatobia. Burial was in Edward Chapel A.M.E. Church Cemetery in Coldwater.
Geter was a truck driver.
He is survived by his daughter Alexis Wooten of Senatobia, and sons Steven Geter of Memphis, Leroy Geter and William Howard Geter Jr., both of Tupelo; Howard Wooten, Michael Geter, Nathaniel Geter, all of Coldwater; Ta’Corey Wooten and Calvin Wooten, both of Senatobia; his sisters Magnolia Hunter of Senatobia, Sadie Taylor and Carolyn Carter of Coldwater and Brenda Ward of Memphis; brother Clarence Geter of Memphis.
Mary Lee Flacy Miller
OAKLAND–Mary Lee Flacy Miller, 74, died Wednesday, November 5, 2014, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford. A memorial service was held Sunday, November 9 at St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church with Rev. Bill Barksdale officiating. Waller Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
Born in Monroe, La., to the late Camillus Watkins and Eunice Falden Flacy, Sr., Mrs. Miller was a retired retail sales clerk from Walden Bookstore. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, reading, and gardening.
Mrs. Miller is survived by her husband, Bill Miller of Oakland; two daughters, Debbie Miller Marsala of West Monroe, La. and Sandy Miller Smith of Oxford; one sister, Sarah Jane Durham of Mattawan, Mich.; one brother, Robert Flacy of Harrisonburg, La. and three grandchildren.

Jean Neal
SENATOBIA–– Jean Neal, 72, died Friday, November 7, 2014 at North Delta Hospice House in Southaven.
Services were held Tuesday at Ray-Nowell Funeral Home in Senatobia. Bro. Hal Johnson officiated. Burial was in Senatobia Memorial Cemetery.
Neal, born March 30, 1942, to the late Colbert Lee Neal and Annie Lois Hamby Neal, worked for City Drugs in Senatobia for over 25 years.
She is survived by her brothers, Grady Neal of Indiana and Don Neal of Como.

Gerald Rippee
CHARLESTON–Gerald Odell Rippee, 75, died November 12, 2014 in Tupelo. Funeral services will be today at 1 p.m. at Newsom Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at Magnolia Garden Cemetery.
Mr. Rippee served in the U.S. Army, worked in sales for Mini Systems in Sardis, and was a member of Friendship Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Rippee of Water Valley; daughter Brenda Fenton of Angier, NC; son Jeff Rippee of Water Valley, stepdaughters Janice Levy of Oxford, Brenda Vance of Columbus, Beverly Goolsby of Water Valley; sister Neva Reece of Charleston; brother Doyle Rippee of Nashville, and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Theo and Lina Rippee, daughters Donna Noe and Mae Walker. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Lizzie Victoria Caldwell Simmons
COURTLAND–Lizzie Victoria Caldwell Simmons, 65, died Wednesday, November 5, 2014, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary. Pastor Reginald Reed will officiate. Visitation will be held Friday 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary. Burial will be in Batesville Cemetery.
Simmons, born Dec. 12, 1948, to the late L.C. Caldwell and Ida Bell Scott, was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Zion M.B. Church.
Survivors include: three daughters, Stephanie Barksdale and Diana Ferrell, both of Courtland and Renee Flowers of Ridgeland; seven brothers, Floyd Caldwell of Benton Harbor, Mich., Ricky Scott, James Scott and Damon Andrews, all of Batesville, Donald Scott of Charleston, Lawerence Caldwell of Michigan, Shawn Caldwell of Houston, Texas; five sisters, Lula Ferrell of Fayetteville, Ark., Lyda Bell Connor of Batesville, Alecita Caldwell Hopkins of Mer Rouge, Louisiana, Bobbie Sue Skinner of Vicksburg and Lula Faye Gasby of Chicago; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
