Lady Tigers dominate Lake Cormorant in non-conference contest 11/14/2014

The South Panola Lady Tiger’s basketball team opened their season on the road at Lake Cormorant Tuesday taking on the Lady Gators.
The Lady Tigers dominated the game winning 58-25. They shot 41% from the free throw line, had 39 rebounds, 33 steals and seven blocks.
Ty’Raven led the team with 26 points. Jasmine Wright scored 11, Sydney Morgan had seven, Shanterrica Hunt added six, Alexis Smith scored five and Chloe Morgan finished with three.
In the first quarter the Lady Tigers scored 16 points and the Lady Gators put up four. Collins scored eight, Smith four, Sydney Morgan two and Hunt two.
South Panola took a 34-8 lead into halftime after Collins scored 14 points in the second quarter followed with Wright with two and Hunt two.
The Tigers continued to dominate the second half of the game. They added 19 points in the third quarter to Lake Cormorant’s nine.
Wright scored the most with nine points. Collins added four, Sydney Morgan had three, Hunt added two and Smith finished with one.
In the last quarter Head Coach Jemmye Helmes subbed to give all team members playing time.
South Panola only scored five points and Lake Cormorant added eight to finish the game.
Scoring for the Lady Tigers were Chloe Morgan with three and Sydney Morgan with two.
In rebounding Wright led with 10. Chloe Morgan, Smith and Breanna Bland had five each. Getting three rebounds each were Sydney Morgan, Hunt and Mia Bass. Collins and Michala Carr had two each. Tracie Benson had one rebound.
Collins had 10 steals and was eight of 13 from the free throw line. Sydney Morgan had seven steals, two blocks, had one three pointer and was one of two from the free throw line. Chloe Morgan had five steals and was three of eight from the free throw line. Wright was one of four from the line, had four steals and four blocks. Hunt was two of seven from the line, had three steals and one block.
Bland had two steals, Bass had one and Carr had one. Carr also had one block.
South Panola will be in action at home on Tuesday when they host Cleveland with the junior varsity starting at 4 p.m.
