Martha Downs Brewer
BATESVILLE––Martha Downs Brewer, 83, died Saturday, September 27, 2014.

Services will be held today at 2 p.m. Liberty Hill Baptist Church in Pope. Burial will be in Liberty Hill Cemetery. Rev. Clay Baker will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service at the church. Wells Funeral Home has charge.

Brewer, born May 14, 1931, in Leake County, to the late Arthur Downs and Jessie Della Beckham Downs, was a retired factory worker and later was a caregiver.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Weson Brewer.

Survivors include: four daughters, Jessie Carol Brewer Wright of Tupelo, Sid Brewer File of Pope, Kathryn Brewer Wright and Billie Brewer Johnson, both of Courtland; three sons, Danny Brewer, Jerry Brewer and Barry Brewer, all of Courtland; two sisters, Ruby Downs Nardozi of Batesville and Quay Whitten of Tupelo; one brother, Billy Downs of Batesville; 15 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

Robert Grafton Coleman Jr.
SARDIS––Robert Grafton Coleman Jr., 87, died Friday, September 26, 2014, at his residence.
Services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Ray Nowell Funeral Home in Sardis.

 Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until service time. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.  Hal Johnson will officiate. Ray Nowell Funeral Home has charge.

Coleman, born Aug. 24, 1927 in Panola County, to the late Robert Grafton Coleman Sr. and Cora Zella Dean Coleman, was a painter, member of Batesville Church of Christ and a World War II veteran of the U. S. Army.

He was preceded in death by one son, Dennis Coleman.

Survivors include: his wife, Doris S. Coleman of Choctaw; two daughters, Janice Hampton of Noxapater and Wanda Luke of Richland, Wash; one son, Keith Coleman of Hernando; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Sardis Public Library, 101 McLaurin, Sardis, Miss. 38666.

David Garland Johnston
COMO–– David Garland Johnston, 60, died Thursday, September 25, 2014 at Baptist Memorial Hospital – North Mississippi.  He was a registered nurse and a veteran of the United States Navy.

Graveside services will be held today at 11 a.m. at Maple View Cemetery in Smyrna, Tenn. Ray-Nowell Funeral Home – Senatobia Chapel has charge.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald Johnston and Mary Pearson Johnston.
Survivors include: his wife of 29 years, Betty Johnston of Como; two daughters, Kimberly Parker of Walls and Leslie Pond of Southaven; one sister, Ida Johnston and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald Johnston and Mary Pearson Johnston. 

Keuttah Goswic Kennemore
SARDIS––Keuttah “Kay” Goswick Kennemore, 82, died Thursday, September 25, 2014, at her residence.

No services will be held at this time. Wells Funeral Home has charge.

Kennemore, born Dec. 30, 1931, in Mayfield, Okla., to the late William Charles “Charlie” and Amanda BC “Bea” McClure Goswick, was a LPN and worked at Osceola Memorial Hospital and was the Plant Nurse at Union Carbide in Osceola, Ark. She also published the book, The Goswick Family History.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Patricia Ann Kennemore Hopper.

Survivors include: one daughter, Sharon Kennemore Forehand of Sardis; three sons, Henry Howard Kennemore Jr. of Sardis, Ross L. Kennemore of Water Valley and Daniel E. Kennemore of Sardis; one brother, Ross Goswick; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Pritchard Allen Masterson
BRANDON––Pritchard Allen Masterson, 75, died Saturday, September 20, 2014, at his residence. He was the brothers of Ronnie Masterson and William Derry Masterson, both of Batesville.

Services were held Monday, September 22, at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Mendenhall, which had charge of arrangements. Burial was in Puckett Cemetery.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Laura Kate and Chester Lee Masterson.

Survivors, along with his brothers, include: his wife, Jo Ann Masterson of Brandon; three sons, Gordon Allen Masterson of Mt. Ida, Ark., Darrell Lee Masterson of Madison and Joseph Lee Rader of Brandon; two daughters, Wanda Carol Allen of Pearl and Laura Lynn Thacker of Jackson, Tenn.; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. 

James Edward Poole
OAKLAND–– James Edward Poole, 71, died Tuesday, September 23, 2014, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center.

Services will be held at a later date. Wells Funeral Home has charge.

Poole, born April 27, 1943, to the late James Morrison and Gladys Self Poole of Arkansas, was a heavy equipment operator.

He was preceded in death by one son, Johnny Poole.

Survivors include: his wife, Mary Gertrude Smith Poole of Enid; three daughters, Debbie Chouamon of Pearl, Donna Terry Palmer of Oakland and Tiffany Poole of Memphis; two sisters, Cassie Biggs of Helena, Ark. and Shirley Williams of Wynn, Ark.; four grandchildren and two great-grandchild.

Johnnie Dean Walker
BATESVILLE–– Johnnie Dean Walker, 88, died Friday, September 26, 2014, at Golden Living Nursing Home.

Graveside services will be held today at 11 a.m. at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Pontotoc. Hal C. Johnson will officiate. Dickins Funeral Home has charge.

Walker, born Dec. 31, 1925, in Pontotoc, to the late Louis Walker and Ruby Elaine Haley Walker, was a veteran of the United States Navy and a retired Rolex watch technician.

Survivors include: his wife, Carolyn Dresback Walker of Pope; one son, Anthony Walker of Bartlett, Tenn.; three sisters, Margie Jones of Charleston, Carol Wireman of Grenada, Martha Bowen of West Monroe, La.; one brother, Billy Walker of Tacoma, Wash. and one grandchild.
