Betty Brown Allen
PONTOTOC – Betty Brown Allen, 84, died Tuesday, May 13, 2014, at Pontotoc Health and Rehab Center.  She was the mother of Carey Allen of Batesville.

Services were held Monday at Baldwin Funeral Home in Pontotoc. Dr. Lewis Harrell officiated.
Allen, born Nov. 10, 1929, was a member of the First Baptist Church in Pontotoc, where she was involved with the children’s choir, hand bells, Sunday school teacher, and secretary and helper to her husband the late Wade Allen Sr., in his service as pastor and later director of missions. She was also a member of the Doris Compere WMU Circle.

Along with her husband she was preceded in death by her daughter, Laurie Jo Allen and a grandson, Lee Wiggins.

Survivors along with her son, Carey Allen include: son, Wade Allen Jr.; two daughters, Carol Gates and Barbara Wiggins; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Music Program at First Baptist Church of Pontotoc, 31 Washington St., Pontotoc, Miss. 38863.

Jeanette Henning
BATESVILLE–Jeanette Henning, 69, the mother of Danny Henning and Scotty Henning of Batesville, died Sunday, May 18, 2014, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center.

Henning, born Aug. 24, 1944 in Panola County to the late Willard Gordon Stroupe and Margie Lucille Bevell Stroup, was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Oxford and was a retired manager of Dollar General in Batesville.

Services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Dickins Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from noon until service time. Burial will be in Black Jack Cemetery.

She was preceded in death by her son, Ricky Wayne Henning.

Survivors along with her sons include: four sisters, Peggy Bolen, Barbara Helmes and Marilyn Ware, all of Batesville and Patricia Stevens of Houston, Texas; two brothers, Bill Stroupe of Batesville and Jim Stroupe of Gilmore, Texas; two grandchildren, Brandon and Brian and two great-grandchildren, Madison and Jamison.

Delbert “Dee” Winslow Smith Jr.
SARDIS–Delbert “Dee”Winslow Smith Jr., 83, died Monday, May 5, 2014, at Hospice of East Texas in Tyler, Texas.

Services were held Thursday, May 8 at Sardis Chapel of Ray Nowell Funeral Home. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery. Ray-Nowell Funeral Home had charge.

Smith, born Dec. 13, 1930, in Ash Flat, Ark., to the late Delbert Winslow Smith Sr. and Lois Crofton Smith, was a member of First Baptist Church in Sardis and was active in Young at Heart. He was a member of of First Baptist Church in Sardis and was active in Young at Heart and a member of Red Rook 1 Club in Sardis.

He was preceded in death of 55 years, Thelma Cline Smith and two sons, Bobby Smith and Gary Smith.

Survivors include: three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren
