Willie J. Chapman
CHARLESTON–Willie J. Chapman 53, died Tuesday, April 15, 2014.

Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary. Pastor Jacob Hentz will officiate. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary. Cooley’s Mortuary has charge.

Chapman, born July 29, 1960, to Lorraine Hentz Chapman of Pope and the late James E. Chapman Sr., was a member of Liberty Hill M.B. Church. He worked in construction.

Survivors along with his mother include: four sons, Kendrick Hamilton of Minneapolis, Minn., Lorenzo Tellis, Willie J. Pride Jr. and Derrick Pride, all of Batesville; six daughters, Shelia Houston of Enid, Kendra Hamilton of Minneapolis, Angela Chapman, Crystal Pride, Brittany Chapman and Jennifer Chapman, all of Batesville; eight brothers, Carl Hentz, Michael Chapman, Tony Chapman, Robert Chapman, Curtis Chapman and Greg Chapman, all of Batesville, Buster Caldwell of Jackson and Stacy Chapman of Pope; 11 sisters, Mildred Hentz, Suzette Smith, Sheryl Chapman, Roland Chapman, all of Pope, Bobbie Young of Sardis, Debra Turner, Clara Chapman, Annie L. Henderson, Betty Moore, Mary Conner and Pearl Anderson, all of Batesville and 22 grandchildren.

James A. Johnson
ENID–James A. Johnson, 89, died Sunday, April 13, 2014, at his residence.

Services were held Thursday at Cooley’s Mortuary Chapel. Pastor Roger Bethel officiated. Burial was in Mt. Zion Church Cemetery in Charleston. Cooley’s Mortuary had charge.

Johnson, born Dec. 28, 1924, in Charleston, to the late Hayes Johnson Jr. and Katherine Buckley, was a retired principal and teacher working for the Tippo School District. He was a member of Mt. Zion M.B. Church in Charleston and a WWII veteran of the United States Army. He was also a Mason.

Survivors include: his wife, Georgia Johnson of Enid; three sons, Stanley Johnson, Carvice Johnson, both of Enid and Stacy Johnson of Jackson; four daughters, Nifiteria Johnson of Atlanta, Cynthia Johnson Martin and Gretchen Johnson Chapman, both of Houston, Texas and Carmencita Johnson Byrd of Jackson; one sister, Loretta Bartlett of Chicago; 15 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Karen Hope Tidwell Joyner
SALTILLO–Karen Hope Tidwell Joyner, 64, died Sunday, April 13, 2014, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.

Services were held Wednesday at Dickins Funeral Home. Burial was in Batesville Magnolia Cemetery. Tommy Mehan and Hal Johnson officiated. Dickins Funeral Home had charge.
Joyner, born July 17, 1949, in Oxford, to the late Marvin Caldwell Tidwell and Virginia Katherine Perkins Tidwell, was a member of the Batesville Presbyterian Church and was a retired pharmacy technician for the Veteran’s Hospital.

Survivors include: her husband, Eurel Joyner Jr. of Saltillo; two daughters, Cindy Whitten of Courtland and Tisha Wallace (Al) of Saltilllo; one sister, Joyce Tidwell of Southaven; four grandchildren, John Mark Whitten, Taylor Paige Gurley, Emma Claire Wallace and Gracie Mae Wallace.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105.

Inez McGee
BATESVILLE–Inez McGee, 80, died Tuesday, April 15, 2014, at Golden Living Nursing Home.
Services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Liberty Hill M.B. Church. Pastor Larry Key will officiate. Burial will be in Eureka Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary. Cooley’s Mortuary has charge.

McGee, born March 30, 1934, to the late Edgar McGee and Louisiana Ford, was a member of Liberty Hill M.B. Church and a domestic worker.

Survivors include: two cousins, Linda Sanford of Batesville and Cecil Mae McGhee of Batesville.

Morgan Parker Jones
GREENVILLE–Morgan Parker Jones, 15, died Monday, April 14, 2014, at Blair Batson Children’s Hospital in Jackson. She was the granddaughter of Tony and Judy Allred Parker of Leland, formerly of Panola. She was also the cousin of Heather Wells of Batesville.

Mass was held Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Greenville. Father Bill Henry officiated. Burial was in Stoneville Cemetery. Wells Funeral Home had charge.

Jones, born Sept. 12, 1998, to Jay Eric Jones and Angela Parker Jones of Greenville, attended Our Lady of Lourdes School and was a freshman at St. Joseph Catholic High School where she was a member of the National Junior Honor Society and the choir. She was also a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
