Como Gallery will host ‘Stuck on Art’

Como is stuck on art. The historic hill town joins four other Mississippi towns for a unique, free art day called “Stuck on Art.” Locally, the Como Main Street Alliance will host the event at the Main Street Gallery, April 6 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The Yoknapatawpha Arts Council in Oxford founded the event. In addition to Como, four other towns, Charleston, Ocean Springs, Como and Long Beach, will simultaneously participate.

Stuck on Art features an open art event where all community members are invited to come create a piece of art, discover what others are creating and then swap pieces to take home.  All supplies, materials and inspirations will be provided at each host site.

“We are excited to be part of this art event, particularly because it is free and focused on building community engagement. It’s free, and the best part, you don’t have to be an artist!  Anyone can attend,” said John Land, president of the Como Main Street Alliance.

This event, the first statewide event of its kind, is designed to encourage neighbors to create together and share their talents, even if they are new or yet undiscovered.

People do not need to be serious art students or artists to stop by their nearest Stuck on Art host site and create something special.  All ages are welcome to join the fun and get creative with their communities.
