COURTLAND– Lanny Dexter, 61, died Friday, November 1, 2013. Services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Love Joy Church. Wells Funeral Home has charge.
SARDIS– Earl Edmond, 77, died Sunday, November 3, 2013, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Desoto.
Services will be held Friday at noon at Mt. Level Church. Visitation will be held Thursday 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. at Felix Cauthen Funeral Home.
Edmond was a custodian at a bank.
Survivors include: four brothers, James Edmond of Gary, Ind., Robert Edmond of Sardis, Clyde Henry Edmond and Earnest Edmond, both of Memphis.
Services were held Sunday at Sumner Baptist Church. Burial was in Memorial Gardens Cemetery. National Funeral Home in Clarksdale had charge.
She was preceded in death by her father, James R. Bryant.
Survivors include: her mother, Janis Bryant of Sumner; one sister, Elaine Bryant Doherty of Oxford; brothers, Barry Bryant of Tutwiler and Tim Bryant of Cleveland.

SENATOBIA– Mary Helen Hamilton, 62, died Thursday, October 31, 2013, at her residence.
Services will be held today at noon at Paradise M.B. Church in Senatobia. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Felix Cauthen Funeral Home has charge.
Hamilton was a member of Paradise M.B. Church where she was on the usher board.
Survivors include: her mother, Mildred McGhee of Senatobia; one daughter, Shannon Hamilton of Senatobia; two sons, Christ Hamilton and Keytavion Hamilton, both of Senatobia; eight sisters, Mary Jean Hughery, Martha J. Mosley and Jacquline Williams, all of Senatobia, Charlene Hayslett of Horn Lake, Bennie Newson of Senatobia, Ruby Hubbard and Pearlie M. Atkins, both of Memphis and Mary Ann Cathey of Holly Springs and nine brothers, M.L. Joeter, Willie Lee Jeter, Rudell Jeter, Andra Geter, Ronnie Jeater, Johnny Bob Newson and Jessie Newson, all of Senatobia, Issac Jeter of Como and Frank James Newson of Memphis.
SARDIS — Frank L. Haynes, 92, died Saturday, November 2, 2013 in Batesville.
Visitation will be held at Kimbro Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, November 5 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. with funeral services to follow at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be held in Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Kimbro Funeral Home has charge.
Haynes was a farmer, a member of First Baptist Church of Lambert and a decorated WWII veteran.
He was preceded in death by his son Frank Jeffrey Haynes.
Survivors include: his wife, Agnes Haynes of Sardis; daughter Vivian Haynes Burrell of Sardis, and his son Myron Haynes of Courtland.
Memorial Contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Lambert or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
CHARLESTON– Phil Otey Sherman Jr, 68, died Thursday, October 31, 2013, in Greenwood.
Services were held Monday at First Presbyterian Church in Charleston. Burial was at the Sherman Family Cemetery.
He was a retired branch manager at Regions Bank in Charleston and was an elder at First Presbyterian Church in Charleston. He was also a member of Charleston Rotary Club where he had been named a Paul Harris Fellow. He was currently employed at The Small Business Development Center at the University of Mississippi.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Otey and Edith Sherman, and son, Phillip Harvey Sherman.
Survivors include: his wife, Jill Carpenter Sherman of Charleston; daughter Sara Sherman Blaylock of Pope; son Granville Carpenter Sherman of Water Valley; sister, Ida Margaret Bryan of Batesville; brother Nick Pipkin Sherman of Enid and two grandchildren.
