Sarah Elizabeth Bial

OXFORD — Sarah Elizabeth Bial, 17, died Saturday, August 24, 2013, as the result of an automobile accident in Panola County. 

Services were held Wednesday, August 28, 2013, at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Oxford with The Reverend Taylor Moore and The Reverend Marian Fortner officiating. Burial was in Oxford Memorial Cemetery. Waller Funeral Home had charge.

She was a student at Oxford High School and a member of the National Honor Society. She was a Duke T.I.P. Candidate and a Delegate to the HOBY Leadership Conference. She volunteered  at Memory Makers, visiting the elderly in nursing homes and participating in More Than A Meal.
Survivors include her father, Joseph Bial of Arlington, Va.; her mother, Leigh Solomon of Oxford; her sister, Lauren Bial of Oxford; her brother, John Bial of Oxford; her grandparents, Jeff and Sharon Solomon of Bay St. Louis, Joseph Bial, Jr., Gayle Nemeth, William F. McCartney and Gail McCartney.

Joe Willie Marshall

COLDWATER — Joe Willie Marshall, 84. died Sunday, August 25, 2013.

Memorial services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Mt. Calm Baptist Church in Coldwater. Visitation will be held Friday 2 p.m. – 5 p.m. at Rodgers Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mt. Calm Baptist Church Cemetery. Rodgers Funeral Home has charge.

Marshall was a factory worker.

Survivors include: his wife, Rosa Montgomery Marshall; three daughters, Sheila M. Goss of Coldwater, Bertha Dowell of Memphis and Patricia Marshall of Coldwater; four sons, Therman Marshall and Garry Marshall, both of Coldwater, Allen Marshall of Washington, Ind. and Reginald Marshall of Batesville; one sister, Loveanna Hayes of Coldwater; 17 great-grandchildren and 22 great-great-grandchildren.

Diane Simmons Stevens

BATESVILLE — Diane Simmons Stevens, 55, died Monday, August 26, 2013, at her home.

Services were held Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at Waller Funeral Home with Rev. Roger Howell and Rev. Gary Stevens officiating.  Burial was in McIvor Cemetery in Batesville.

Born in Water Valley, Mrs. Stevens was a member of McIvor Baptist Church.  She attended Adonai Church where she was an active volunteer and enjoyed participating in Vacation Bible School.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Russell Simmons and Lillie Grose.

Survivors include her husband, Marcus Stevens of Batesville; one daughter, Tammy House of Oxford; one son, Gary Stevens of Batesville; three sisters, Carolyn Cunningham of Greenwood, Regina Simmons of Paris and Renea Kelley of Water Valley; one brother, Danny Simmons and his wife, Janelle of Oxford; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
