Lady Tigers have good showing at jamboree


The South Panola fastpitch softball team played in the Lake Cormorant pre-Season jamboree last Saturday. The Lady Tigers had a good showing as they shutout Olive Branch 11-0 and tied with Horn Lake 2-2.

Nicole Fullilove and Hannah Moore pitched 4 innings each during the jamboree.

Getting multiple hits in the Olive Branch game were Marla Rudd and Madison Taylor. The Lady Tigers had a total of 12 hits.

Fullilove and Moore also hit doubles against Olive Branch.

The starting lineup scored at least once and held Olive Branch to no runs, one hit, and three strikeouts.

Against the always tough Horn Lake Lady Eagles, Amanda Ivy got multiple hits and the team had a total of six hits.

Fullilove and Ivy each hit doubles. Horn Lake had two runs, five hits and six strikeouts.

“I thought the weekend was successful,” said Lady Tiger head coach Ashleigh Hicks. “We did some things really good and saw things we need to work on. I feel our pitching really did a good job. I can’t wait for season.”

The Lady Tigers will play in the Hernando Classic today at 5 and 6 p.m., starting with the junior varsity.
 
The Lady Tigers junior varsity team opens its season Monday at home, hosting Oxford in a doubleheader at 5 and 6 p.m.

The varsity opens the season on the road at Lewisburg Tuesday at 5:30 and 7 p.m.
