Delaince Chunn

KOSCIUSKO – Delaince Chunn, 94, died Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at her residence. She was the mother of Mary Evelyn Fennel of Batesville.

Services were held Friday at Wake Forest Pentecostal Church. Burial was in Parkway Cemetery. Rev. Greg Fortenberry, Bob Ellis and Joe Odom officiated.

Chunn was a member of Wake Forest Pentecostal Church and a homemaker.

She is  preceded in death by husband, Willie (Buster) Chunn; son, Melvin Chunn; grandson, Christopher Chunn; and her parents, Ollie and Bessie Odom.

Survivors along with her daughter include: daughters, Shirley Frazier and Bobbie Deason; sons, Ray Chunn, Ralph Chunn, L.T. Chunn and Mike Chunn; sister, Gladys McMillan; grandchildren, Tony Chunn, Connie Threet, Bubba Fennel, Angie Chunn, Christy Halderman, Misty  Adams, Kevin  Deason, Jason Frazier, Felicia Blanton, Jerry Chunn, Carey Chunn, Cody Frazier, Lance Fennel, Shannon Chunn and Scott Chunn; 31 great grandchildren; one great great-grandchild.

Deborah Anthony Crafton

BATESVILLE –  Deborah Anthony Crafton, 61, died Friday, February 1, 2013, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at Wells Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Cemetery in Pope. Visitation will be held today from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Wells Funeral Home has charge.

She was born on August 5, 1951, in Batesville, to  the late Hayden E. and  Marlyn L. Walters Anthony. She worked as a secretary and Hostess and was a member of the Holy Innocence Episcopal Church in Como.

Survivors include: her husband, Glenn E. Crafton, of Batesville; two sons, Joseph M. Anthony of Batesville and Kurt H. Allday of Clinton, La., one step-daughter, Jenna C. Crafton of Denver, Colo. and a step-son, Jessie Levi Crafton of Seoul, South Korea, one sister, Agnes M. Anthony-Allen of Pope; with 7 grandchildren.

Willie Thomas “Tommy” Johnson

BATESVILLE – Willie Thomas “Tommy” Johnson, 55, died Sunday, February 3, 2013.

The family will hold a memorial services at a later time.

Johnson, born April 22, 1957, in Columbus, to the late Willie Lee and Patty Lorene Box Johnson, worked for nearly 19 years on an offshore oil rig, and while on his time off, he was a carpenter by trade for Bill Holland in Winona and West Mississippi for 30 years. He was also a self-employed carpenter.

Survivors include: one daughter, Ginger Johnson Mayhan of Grenada; one son, Thomas Preston Johnson of Wilson, Ark.; three brothers, David Lee Johnson of Batesville, Terry Wayne Johnson of Rockford, Ill., Timothy Gregg Johnson of Hernando and six grandchildren, Adrienne, Dylan and McKenzie Johnson, Megan, Lexie and Katie Beth Mayhan.

Dorothy Collins Bailey Kiihnl

BATESVILLE – Dorothy Collins Bailey Kiihnl, 89, died Wednesday, January 30, 2013, at the Tallahatchie Extended Care Facility in Charleston.

Services were held Saturday at Batesville Church of Christ. Dan Beardain, Robert Rawson and Michael Bates officiated. Private graveside services were held at Bethel Cemetery near Enid. Womble Funeral Home of Charleston had charge of arrangements.

She was the daughter of George Harrison Collins and Mary Myrtle Rippey Collins. She was a  member of Batesville Church of Christ. She worked for the Department of Human Services as a clerk.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Brady D. Bailey and J.W. Kiihnl.

Survivors include: two daughters, Ellen Bailey Clark and Susan Bailey Reed, both of Batesville; two sons, Gerald Bailey of Vicksburg and Rickey T. Bailey of Surprize, Arizona; one sister, Mary Collins Morrow of Pulaski, Tenn.; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Dr. Joe Gardner

BATESVILLE – Mississippi Distric 11 Representative Dr. Joe Gardner, 68, died Monday, February, 4, 2013, at his residence.

Cooley’s Mortuary will handle arrangements which were incomplete at press time. Full obituary information will be in Friday’s edition of The Panolian.

He was the pastor of Greater Concord M.B. Church west of Batesville.

He is survived by his wife, Ella Gardner, and one daughter.

Paul David Sims

OXFORD – Paul David Sims, 62, died Friday, February 1, 2013, at his residence.

Sims retired in 1997 from Southland Company in Batesville. He was a member of College Hill Heights Baptist Church.

Memorial services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at College Hill Heights Baptist Church. He chose to donate his body to Genesis Legacy of Life Program.

Survivors include: his wife, Nancy Courson Sims; a step-son, Robert Sterling Lee Jr. and wife, Ashley of Oxford; one sister, Juanee Pearson and husband, Raymond of Batesville; brothers, Winston “Ted” Sims and wife, Faye of Batesville, Denton “Denny” Sims and wife, Janice of Batesville; and one grandson, Benjamin Mathew Lee.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the College Hill Heights Baptist Church Building Fund, 147 CR 102, Oxford, Miss. 38655.
