North Panola boys lost to Coldwater 63-51 Friday in non-district action.
The Cougars fall to 17-7 overall, but remain undefeated in district (8-0) going into tonight’s contest at Winona.
North Panola had defeated Coldwater 64-58 December 7 in Sardis, but the road game was tough on the Cougars.
Scoring leaders for North Panola were Devonte Howard and Robert Oliver, nine points each; Darius Jackson and Anjayvious Farmer, six points each; Gerotney Kelson, five points; and Quin Perry, two points.
The Lady Cougars lost their game to Coldwater by six points, according to head coach Daphne Thomas.
“We just had a terrible shooting night,” she said.
The Lady Cougars had sneaked by Coldwater 46-44 on December 7. North Panola is also playing without the services of Teariny Wheatley who suffered a sprained right knee injury in the January 22 game against Byhalia.
She is expected to be available for Friday’s game against Independence.
Tonight, the Cougar teams travel to Winona for a district rematch from last week. North Panola creamed each team by a large margin. Games start at 5 p.m. with the junior varsity girls.
Friday, the Cougar teams return home for senior night against Independence in the final district and regular season game starting at 6 p.m.
North Panola will host the District Tournament next week, January 11-15. The schedule will follow when it becomes available.
