Ole Miss junior Montez Griffin from Batesville was recognized with others during the halftime of the men’s Ole Miss and Tennessee basketball game Thursday night as a track and field scholar athlete with his 3.0 grade point average.

This past weekend, Griffin placed first in the 400-meter dash with a time of 47.99. He also placed fourth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.81 at the ASU Invitational in Jonesboro.

On January 11 he competed in the Blaze Invitational in Birmingham where he placed second in the 400-meter dash with a 48.48 and sixth place in the 200-meter dash with a 21.90.

On January 19, Griffin competed in the Auburn Indoor Invitational where he placed seventh in the 400-meter dash with a 48.20 and lead the 4×400-meter relay team to a fourth place finish in 3:15.71.

He will compete in the Meyo Invitational at Notre Dame on February 1.
