Tigers make it six straight wins

Led by a season-high 22 points from Sam Copeland, the North Delta Green Wave snapped a three-game losing streak  with a 71-28 drubbing of host Carroll Academy in District 1-AA play Friday night.

With the victory, North Delta evened its district record at 2-2 on the season and 3-7 overall. Renic Greenlee followed Copeland in scoring with 12 points and six assists as the Wave shot a sizzling 56 percent from the floor.

Other scorers for North Delta included, Hunt Howell, 11 points, six rebounds; Jonathan Mackey, eight points, five assists; Tyler Beard, five points, four assists; Will Hartzell five points and Tylor Lee, five points, seven rebounds and two blocked shots.

Varsity Lady Green Wave
In the varsity girls contest, the North Delta Lady Green Wave improved to 10-6 and 2-2 in district with a 43-34 win over the Rebels.

Erin Snider paved the way with 14 points, 11 rebounds and eight steals while Hastings Neal supplied 12 points. Claire Gant added seven points while Charla Darby and Julie Morrow chipped in with five points each.

Callie Blake Masterson did not figure into the scoring but did register five steals in the defensive side of the ball.

North Delta stayed on the road Saturday by splitting a pair of games with Magnolia Heights in Senatobia.
Led by Snider’s 18 points, the Lady Green Wave got past the Chiefs 49-41 to raise their record to 11-6 on the year.

Neal contributed with 13 points and seven boards while Morrow added seven points and six steals. Darby added five points while Gant dished out five assists and three points. Jordan Pullen registered two points and Sarah Johnson finished with one point.

The North Delta boys meanwhile dropped a tough 52-49 loss in overtime. Copeland’s 14 points led the Wave in scoring while Greenlee added nine. Others scorers included, Howell with seven, Mackey with six, Lee with four, Bailey Sullivant, three points, Hartzell and Beard each had two points.

 North Delta will close out their 2012 schedule December 27-29 in the Magnolia Heights Tournament.
