Four defendants referred to grand jury in city court

Four cases were bound over to the grand jury by Judge Bill McKenzie during Batesville Municipal Court held Wednesday.

Christopher Hogue, 49 Redbud, Oakland, bonded out prior to court and was referred to the grand jury for felony shoplifting and false information.

Thomas C. Ragon, 1296 A Cosby Rd., Courtland, bonded out prior to court and was referred to the grand jury for felony possession of controlled substance, possession of marijuana, careless driving and no proof of insurance.

Samantha Brooks, 7926 Ellis Dr., 6, Southaven, had a case bound over to the grand jury for grand larceny.

Alan P. Smith, 335 Hays, Batesville, had a case bound over to the grand jury for felony malicious mischief. He had old fines of $436 that he was ordered to pay before he made bond.

His bond was reduced from $7,500 to $2,500 and the judge told him to have his old fines paid in full or he would not be able to be released from jail.

Marvin Brownlee, 107 Vance St., Batesville, entered a guilty plea to public drunk.

Mary Ruth Burgess, 109 Clinton St., Batesville, entered a guilty plea to simple assault and paid her fine of $315 in full prior to court.

Quendez Robinson, 201 Lamar Thomas, Batesville, entered the city’s work release program in lieu of paying $315 after entering a guilty plea to simple assault by hitting Ronald Ladd in the face and breaking his nose.

Lyndon Mosley Jr. 331 Greg Taylor Rd., had a simple assault charge dismissed after the affiant, Latoya Fondren failed to appear to prosecute.

Patrick McCoy, 1215 Pine St., Leadwood, Mo., entered a guilty plea to shoplifting from Wal-Mart and was fined $1,133.

Kari White, 1886 Hambrick, Boax, Ala., failed to appear to answer shoplifting charges. Al Williams Bonding was notified..

Latambrise Mosley, 200-D Leonard St., Batesville, had a case for simple assault dismissed after the affiant, Jessie Pegues failed to appear to prosecute.

Tabitha Thornton, 209 Gordon Dr., Batesville, was found guilty of disorderly conduct – interfering with a business. She was fined $315.

Antonio Crump, 430 Tubbs Rd., Batesville, had a case continued for domestic violence-simple assault and another charge for domestic violence – simple assault. Officer Morgan and Officer J. Miller were in court to testify but the affiant, Shemeika Robinson was not.

The judge ordered a warrant for Robinson to be in court and the case was continued.

Laqunta V. Tellis, 213 Draper St., Batesville, was fined $911 for no driver’s license and no proof of insurance.

Jacalica C. Cauthen, 231 Van Voris St., Batesville, was fined $155 for no child restraint.
