Michelle Renee Loness


Michelle Renee Loness, age 43, died on Tuesday evening.  Services are incomplete and will be announced later today by Wells Funeral Home.

Sarah Reed Palmer


Sarah Reed Palmer, age 84, widow of Russell Palmer, died Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis.

Dr. Tommy Snyder will officiate the funeral service of Mrs. Palmer at 11 a.m., Thursday, October 4, in the Chapel of Wells Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time on Thursday. Burial will follow in Forrest Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Palmer was born in Panola County on December 6, 1927, to Horace and Nellie McMinn Reed. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Batesville. She received her Nuclear X-ray Technician degree from The Methodist School of Radiology in Memphis. After graduation she pursued her career at numerous medical facilities, including Methodist Hospital, Baptist Hospital, Sardis and Grenada Hospitals.

Survivors include two sons, Reed Palmer of Memphis, Russell Palmer of Bartlett, five grandchildren-Russell, Amy, Niki, Jeff and JJ; and seven great-grandchildren.

Susie Clarkson Smith

Susie Clarkson Smith, age 104, a resident of the Senatobia Convalescent Center, and a former resident of Courtland, MS, passed away on September 30, 2012. Mrs. Smith was born in Tallahatchie County on December 16, 1907. She was the daughter of Taylor J. and Emma Smith Clarkson.

Mrs. Smith was a member of the Courtland Methodist Church in Courtland, MS. She is survived by two daughters: Mary Neff of Hollandale, MS and Eunice Speed of Albany, GA. One son: Charles Smith of Marks, MS and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. One special granddaughter, Camille Massey of Senatobia, MS

She was preceded in death by her husband, Huber P. Smith and a daughter, Margaret Ann Darnell of Coldwater, MS.

Memorial services were held Sunday, October 7, at Wells Funeral Home. Services to be conducted by Dr. Park Neff, grandson. Private cremation burial services will be held at a later date.

Memorials, in her memory, may be made to Senatobia Convalescent Center, 402 Getwell Drive, Senatobia, MS 38668.

Robbie Jo Morrow Still

Robbie Jo Morrow Still age 79, widow of Cecil Franklin Still, Sr., died Sunday morning at her home on Highway 35 South Batesville, MS.

Funeral services were Tuesday 10/2/12 at Wells Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Ed Woodall officiating. Interment was in Batesville Magnolia Cemetery. 

Mrs. Still was born July 25, 1933 in Batesville to Archie and Vera Daughtery Morrow, Sr.. Robbie was retired from Tallahatchie Valley Electric Power Association where she worked for 36 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Batesville.

She leaves a Son: Cecil Franklin “Frankie” Still, Jr. of Batesville, MS; Brother: Archie Morrow, Jr. of Batesville, MS. Two Grandchildren: Cecil and Jadie and Two Great-Grandchildren: Kylie and Cayden.
