Tigers demolish Horn Lake


South Panola kicked off the district season with a 55-3 win over Horn Lake Friday night.

The Tigers racked up 409 total yards and limited Horn Lake to 58.

South Panola used as many available players as necessary to secure the win.

Ephraim Kitchens scored the only touchdown of the first quarter on an interception returned for 26 yards.

In the second quarter, the Tigers scored three touchdowns. Ryan Lee scored on a one yard run. Darrell Henderson scored on a 53-yard pass from Rip Kirk. DeAndrea Harris scored on a 26-yard pass from Kirk.

At the half, the Tigers led 28-0 after the four PATs by Clayton Sibley.

In the third quarter, Harris scored on a 31-yard pass from Kirk and Jaylon Lee scored on a seven-yard pass from Bailey Lawrence. Sibley was one of two PATs in the third quarter for a 41-0 Tiger lead.

Closing out the game in the fourth, Tiger Roosevelt Jones scored on a 36-yard run.

Horn Lake scored its only points on a 26-yard field goal by Cesar Resendiz.

Henderson returned the kickoff 97-yards for the final points of the game with Sibley’s two PATs.

Kirk completed 11 of 21 passes for 175 yards and three touchdowns. Lawrence was a perfect two for two with 13 yards and one touchdown.

Jones led in rushing with 50 yards on three carries. Henderson had 47 yards on 10 carries and two receptions for 54 yards.

Returning for the first time since the Hoover game, Ladarius Strong had 46 yards on six carries. Ryan Lee had 43 yards on 10 carries.

Harris had seven receptions for 108 yards and two touchdowns.

Matthew Davis led with five tackles and one sack. Anfernee Benson had four tackles and one sack.

Tony Conner had four tackles, one interception and four pass deflections.

Recovering one fumble each were Jevon Norris, Dashawn Lindsay and Jemarcus Brooks.

South Panola will face its toughest district opponent in Olive Branch on the road Friday with a 7:30 p.m. kickoff.
