Four-wheelers operating on streets in the Keating Grove subdivision have been the source of recent complaints, Ward I Alderman Bill Dugger said Tuesday during the meeting of the mayor and aldermen.
Police chief Tony Jones said that his department had also received complaints about four-wheelers on the streets. By the time an officer can respond, Jones said, the four-wheelers are usually off the streets.“It’s the parents’ responsibility for the children, and the parents need to take the responsibility,” Jones said.
“Four-wheelers, golf carts, ATVs — they’re all illegal to operate on city streets,” the police chief said.
If parents refuse to keep their minor children from riding the unlicensed vehicles on streets, the police can take steps to seize the vehicles, Jones said.
