SARDIS – W.T. Hawkins, 73, died Saturday, March 17, 2012, at his residence.
Services were held Monday at Wells Funeral Home. Burial was in Shiloh Cemetery. Rev. Richard Teague officiated. Wells Funeral Home had charge.
Hawkins, born April 4, 1934, in Marks, to the late William Carl and Dovie Hollinger Hawkins, was a retired tree surgeon.
Survivors include: three daughters, Brenda Faye Hawkins of Sardis, Deborah K. Wilson of Conway, Ark. and Wendy Renee Slinkard of Marlon, Ark.; three step-children, Theresa Sartin, Billy Lewellen and Patty Lewellen all of Sardis; two sisters, Nina Carmicheal of Byhalia, Linda Higgins of Greenwood; two brothers, Jimmy Dale and Billy Gene Hawkins, both of Water Valley; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
SARDIS – Melissa Ann Bramlett Lucas, 43, died Saturday, March 3, 2012, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center.
Services were held Friday, March 9 at Dickins Funeral Home. Dickins Funeral Home has charge.
Lucas was born Feb. 16, 1969, in Marks, to Billy Edward Bramlett of Sardis and Juanita Franks Shelton, of Sardis.
Survivors along with her parents, include: her husband, Michael “Luke” Lucas; one daughter, Nikki Lucas of Water Valley; four sons, Jessie Wade Dogan of Scottsville, Ky., Josh Eugene Dogan and Christopher Michael Dodd, both of Sardis and Matthew Dewayne Lucas of Water Valley; four sisters, Loretta Helmes of Scottsville, Ky., Donna Lynn Taylor of Shannon, Misty Bramlett, Rebecca Thompson of Sardis; three brothers, Chuck Dyer of Newport, Ark., Billy “Bubba” Bramlett of Batesville and Jason Bramlett of Pontotoc; five grandchildren and her step-father, Bobby Shelton of Sardis.
BATESVILLE – Mary Lena Turner Peek, 91, died Sunday, March 18, 2012, at Golden Living Nursing Home.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Dickins Funeral Home. Hal Johnson will officiate. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. prior to services. Burial will be in Forrest Memorial Cemetery. Dickins Funeral Home has charge.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin C. Peek and one son, Eugene Peek.
Survivors include: one grandchild and four great-grandchildren.
MARKS – Evone White, 89, died Monday, March 19, 2012, at Quitman County Nursing Home.
Services will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Dickins Funeral Home. Burial will be in Crowder Cemetery. Keith Bulen will officiate. Visitation will begin at 11:30 a.m. prior to services. Dickins Funeral Home has charge.
