Rudy D. Brown

ARKANSAS – Rudy D. Brown, 70, died Saturday, January 28, 2012, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Desoto.

Memorial services will be held at a later date. Wells Funeral Home has charge.

Brown, born April 30, 1941, in Forest City, Ark., to the late Herbert and Illa Mae Crews Brown, was a painter.

Survivors include: two sons, Rudy Douglas Brown of Grenada, Ronnie Dale Brown of Merced, Calif.; two sisters, Carlene Brown Russell of Calif.; Naomi Brown Hall of Oakland; one grandchild; two great-grandchildren.

Jessie Sanders Browning

BATESVILLE – Jessie Sanders Browning, 81, died Sunday, January 29, 2012, at the Golden Living Center in Batesville.

Services will be held today at Wells Funeral Home. Rev. Lee Wilcutt will officiate. Burial will be in Forrest Memorial Park. Wells Funeral Home has charge.

Browning, born June 24. 1930, in Sumner, to the late Robert Floyd and Alma Leona Howell Sanders, was a homemaker and a Baptist.

She was preceded in death by her son, Gregory Allen Browning.

Survivors include: one son, Robert J. Browning Jr. of Houma, La.; two sisters, Iris Jean Sanders Ridgeway and Robbie Sanders Sartin, both of Batesville and two grandchildren.

Jeannie Faye Darby

SOUTHAVEN – Jeannie Faye Darby, 64, died Friday, January 27, 2012, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Desoto.

Services were held Monday at Batesville First Assemby of God Church. Rev. Jerry Hankins officiated. Burial was in Oakhill Cemetery in Enid. Wells Funeral Home had charge.

Darby, born Sept. 12, 1947, in Augusta, Ark., to the late Barney and Pearl Jean Cobb Lawrence, was a homemaker and a member of Batesville First Assembly of God Church.

Survivors include: two daughters, Edna Jean Darby Cadena of Courtland and Teresa Lynn Darby Mullins of Grenada; two sons, Donald Darby of Sarah and Timothy Wayne Darby of Sardis; three sisters, Nelda Lawrence Davis, Linda Lawrence Lucas and Tammy Lawrence, all of Forrest City, Ark.; two brothers, George Lawrence of Forrest City, Ark.; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Verla Mae Patton

OAKLAND – Verla Mae Patton, 86, died Saturday, January 28, 2012, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center.

Services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at McIvor Baptist Church. Rev. Jerry King and Rev. Rayford Ables will officiate. Burial will be in McIvor Church Cemetery. Dickins Funeral Home has charge.

She was a member of Locke Station Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J.L. Patton and one daughter, Betty Sue Patton.

Survivors include: one daughter, Joyce Lamb of Oakland; three sons, Leon Patton of Oakland and Tex Patton and Jessie Patton of Pope; one sister, Sadie Coggins of Batesville; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to McIvor Cemetery, 103 Wilson Rd., Batesville, Miss.

Henry Lee Ryder

SENATOBIA- Henry Lee Ryder, 80, died Saturday, January 28, 2012, at his residence.

Services will be held today at 2 p.m. at Pate-Jones Funeral Home. Burial will be in Senatobia Memorial Cemetery.

Ryder was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the Navy. He as a retired construction engineer.

Survivors include: his wife, Anita C. Ryder; two daughters, Cynthia Dover and JoAnn Benger; one son, William Lee Ryder, all of Las Vegas; step son, David R. Perry of Batesville; one sister, Billie Faye Gibson of Pineville, La.; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Memorials may be sent to Looxahoma Baptist Church building fund.

Frances Sanders


ENID – Frances Sanders, 90, died Thursday, January 26, 2012, at her residence.

Services were held Sunday at Newsom Funeral Home. Burial was in Bethel Cemetery.

Sanders, born to the late John Press and Annie Clyde Newman, was a member of Bethel Methodist Church. She was a member of Mt. Pisgah Ladies Sunday School Class for the last 10 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kirby Lee Sanders.

Survivors include: three daughters, Marilyn Sanders Barton of Oakland, Sybil Fortner of Southaven, Cathy Sanders Groner of Hernando; two sons, Wayne Sanders of Batesville and Bud Sanders of Olive Branch; two sisters, Kathleen Dennington of Memphis and Eloise Sanders of Aurora, Colo.; two brothers, George Newman of Greenwood and Fred Newman of Southaven; 12 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
