Letter to the editor

Crooked public officials get off too easy, reader says

The conduct of our elected officials in this state has gotten out of hand. They beg, plead and promise for a vote to serve the people, not for their own financial interest.

Mr. Davis (Southaven Mayor Greg Davis), Mr. Chandler and the ex-governor really showed our state what they are made of.

They get elected and think they are above the law. It is time for this to change. As far as I’m concerned when you use your public office for personal gain it should be considered a felony. They should be fined the maximum, lose all privileges and make full reimbursement for what was stolen.

When they get caught, they scream rehab or state’s evidence, then get a slap on the wrist and sent to a country club to improve their golf game. Normal people who get caught shoplifting or stealing do not have that option. In years past, millions of dollars were spent on ventures that never opened. — the $55 million beef plant at Oakland and Rolando Foods in Crenshaw.

I wonder how much the Rolando plant cost and where did it go?
